That's why I call him a young vet. He plays (and has played) so far beyond his years. There are few players left in the league that have that "legendary" status as veterans... the kind that no one even hits or chirps because of how well respected they are. Yzerman, Sakic, Lidstrom, Bourque, Lemieux, Niedermayer, Messier, Gretz (of course), etc. Toews will be one of those.

Some of his best years were in his 30s. The guy just wouldn't stop.

And let's face it, folks, the Cup handoff to Bourque has to be the classiest move ever in sports. Let's watch it again, just so you can get the tissues out at work:

Always weirded me out when Shanny tackles him in a non-I want to kick your ass way, that normally would have happened at a Wings/Avs game.

That whole tourney he was just magical. I LOVED watching him those olympics... I can only imagine what it was like in Canada. The guy was clutch... Not only playing for gold, but 8 OT playoff goals (most ever). Wow.

:lol totally. He's used to getting slammed into by Shanahan, but not normally in a celebratory way!

Have you guys seen the deadspin article/picture of the skate-to-face injury in a Quebec league? I'm not linking to it nor recommending that you look at it. Crazy.

Before it's all said and done, Hartnell probably goes down as the classiest, best #19 ever.

Thankyaverymuch.

Almost pathetic that this thread wants to choke on Yzermans balls yet there's no mention of Ovechkin putting the team on his back and scoring 4 goals to lead his team to victory. That's what captains do. Lead by example. When the team decides to lay a goose egg, Ovechkin delivers with one of the greatest performances of his career

lol X 1,000 at comparing Ovechkin to Yzerman.

Nice 'hold on' win for the Oilers last night. They are about .700 over their past 11 games I think. If they keep that pace (haha, yeah right) over their remaining 50 games they'll be at 95 points, and knowing the west still not in the playoffs.

They've looked really good as of late, but that terrible, terrible start really did them in.

Three Cups, a Conn Smythe (should have 2, should have won it in 02), a Selke and a gold medal. Yup real close. Since we were talking about the rest Sakic: 2 Cups, a Conn Smythe, a Hart Trophy and a gold medal. And since he's closer in age Toews: 2 Cups and a Conn Smythe.

:lol:lol jesus. Turn on ESPN, Barry Melrose is getting plenty of ball choking in.

Very sloppy game in Columbus last night but a huge 2 points for CBJ. They can pull into a tie for a playoff spot with the rangers if they beat them tomorrow night. Really like the way this team is playing right now and they are 2 weeks away from adding Horton & Gaborik.

Love Ken Daniels (Red Wings PxP guy) saying "I think there are some open seats in the lower bowl they can find." There were huge sections empty last night. Kinda surprised honestly, usually Wings fans flock down there. Maybe being so closer to xmas, and the fact trips there will happen more frequently than in the past, fans didn't feel like it.

Arguably (but not really) the best forward in the tournament.
Edit: Just realized he was actually named best forward in the tournament.

As for the whole glass-gate thing, I'm pretty certain that they showed a little later a 2nd replacement panel was put in....without the tape on it.
