Also it might have been missed, Petry to the Habs. Not sure how he'll work out. He's a big ? to me because Oilers suck. Maybe he'll do very well with a good team.

Lol the Rangers are going to choke. They don't have a 1st rounder until 2018.

Not having a draft pick won't make them choke this year. These moves make them closer and that is all any team can do. If it doesn't work they have other players they can move in the next few years for picks. There is always a way.

Wataching TSN last night they showed the guys with the longest trade deadline streaks, where they've made a move on deadline day. Sather...12 years in a row. lol I can't fault NYR for going for it. Your windows are so small, that they have to do it. You'll deal with the no picks later, if you have to. If you win, it's worth it for these guys.

Unless Crosby gets traded today, that is the craziest deal of the day.

Petry is...alright. Nothing special but he's alright. It was a fair, boring trade.

I get to see Yandle and Cole, and maybe more, on Wednesday when I'm at Wings/Rangers.

Exactly this. It's the Detroit Fucking Red Wings.

I keep thinking about these rumors of Weiss and Kindl for Elisha hottie's husband. I don't like this for the playoffs (want depth of Weiss with being unsure of Helm and Mule) plus years 4-6 when Kindl and Weiss's contracts are done, Wings paying Dion 7mil per for 3 years....Errrr.

Wings in Philly...that's a guaranteed loss for the Wings recently. lol I've got Rangers on Wednesday and Lightning on the 28th.

I was off last year for it, but I had errands to run. Deadline was just a bonus.

@SouvenirCity: Join me in praying the Predators don't land Phil Kessel today, won't you?

Apparently Leafs want Brendan Smith and Weiss for Dion but Wings keep the full price of Dion. If Leafs pick up 1-2mil, I'm sort of ok with the deal, but not without it. I can't see paying Dion 7mil being a #4 dman, 3 years after Weiss's contract is up. Hope this doesn't happen. Zidlicky seems to be the best option to me, if anything.

A good team like this, is where he needs to go. He needs to not have the weight of the franchise on his shoulders.

So am I the only one in here that only uses their Twitter account for just this one weekend every year? I have zero followers, have never tweeted anything even once, and the only people I follow are McKenzie, Dreger, LeBrun, Steve Whyno (Caps guy), Elliot Friedman and Gord Miller. That's it. After today I won't even open twitter for another 363 days :lol

I use it primarily for hockey, but follow all the time. I don't use it (to actually send tweets) like I used to.

Wings trying to get the Leafs to do (what I wanted) to eat $2mil per. I ain't totally stupid, no matter what my wife says.

Leafs want Brendan smith. The wings want the leafs to assume two mil a year on Phaneuf contract.

Re: The NHL Thread

I keep going back to depth, which the Wings just got with cole and then give it up with sending Weiss to TO. While Weiss has been a huge disappointment, I just worry about health. If Helm is only gone short term, and Mule comes back before the playoffs, then ok, but those are big IF's.

Gord Miller saying Wings thinking price is too high. Not over, but not happening quite yet. Love Holland trying to make a splash though. Wonder if it heats up closer to 3pm.

Yup, very good point.

It's possible Bowman was just testing the waters to see what Sharp would bring back in a trade, but I didn't think he'd be a piece they'd move until MAYBE this offseason...but even then, I think he's staying put.

Yeah I don't know this offseason could be a shitshow for Bowman trying to clear cap space. He may have to trade Sharp unfortunately.

Really hope he stays around because it's looking like the contract he was signed to was a pretty solid one. He really hasn't shown much in the way of decline the past couple of years except for maybe a little bad luck with the shot. He still gets more shots off than any other forward on the Hawks and drives possession very well, even when he is being thrown around the lineup like Q has been doing the past couple of weeks.

Vermette trade could be huge if it allows the Toews line to be free of tougher competition. Hopefully they are realizing that it is time to get Toews a better opportunity to drive the scoring now that Kane is out.

I mean...for Phil and Nashville that's best case scenario (depending on what Nashville would give up for him)...but for the rest of the league, not so much.

Holy hell, that seems like a lot for Dion.
