loving all these major trades heading to the east while nobody in the west is making any major splashes (yet). avs getting landeskog back at some point is going to be like a free trade. they're already up to being only 3 points out of first in the division and 5 for #1 in the west with 2-3 games in hand. if they can just get healthy, they'll be deadly, again.

Niederreiter going to the Jets is the biggest trade I can think of in the West

Mikko Rantanen for the Hart

Two more goals tonight to get to 40 on the year in a big Colorado W over Vegas

Dude has been the only consistently healthy Avs player this year and has put the team on his back

They would not be sniffing the playoffs without him (and Georgiev)

K’Miller seemed really apologetic and insists it was a mistake. He personally apologized to Doughty after the game too. That said, it’s a bad look and maybe just don’t spit while on the ice ever again. I have no problem if he sits a few games for it.

Also, the Bruins v Oilers game was a fun one to watch on TV. I’m in Banff tonight, but I’ll be at the Flames v Bruins game tomorrow night in Calgary!

Conditions at Sunshine Valley were amazing yesterday! About 6-10 inches of fresh powder made for some amazing skiing. Also, this town is just so much fun and obviously I don’t need to say anything about how beautiful Banff national park is!

Love going to Flames games and I was at this game. Definitely one of the more entertaining games I’ve been to all year. Flames totally dominated a very tired Boston team. Ullmark was in real in net for the Bruins, however, Markstrom was also great for the Flames once he came in. Not sure why Sutter didn’t start him. If Markstrom starts the Flames win that game.

That said, the Flames are on the outside looking in for a reason (13 OT losses will do that) and the Bruins are in first because they find a way.

This concluded my Canadian hockey trip. Next up will be a Rangers v Canes game back in Durham!

I have felt for several years now that if the Leafs get out of the first round they are just going to go off and make a cup finals run. They just need to get over the hump. Reminds me of the Caps against the Pens. Once they finally got over that hurdle it was straight to a Cup.

As for the NY Rangers; I am trying to keep my expectations grounded. It is very hard not to get overly excided about the top two lines with their current top 6. On paper, it is unreal. That said, I have been down this old highway before with the Rangers. Realistic expectations on who the current versions of Kane and Vlad T are is going to be key. I believe that both are capable of finding enough left in the tank to make an impact. I am also aware they are not the players they once were and make the Rangers worse defensively. The Rangers seem to be 1 or 2 injuries away from disaster as well (especially on the blueline).

In the end, I am just going to try and enjoy to ride and hope for the best. I think if they are going to fail, I hope it is in round 2 so we keep the first round pick. If they make the ECF, I want the cup. Total bust would be losing round 1 (especially to NJ).

There is a lot of luck in hockey. Something like 40% of the outcome of a game is luck, one of the highest in sports. Crazy things can happen. Tampa got bounced in the 1st round a few years ago and then won Cups.

Haha why the Sens hate? I am just happy to see a Canadian team get talent rather than bleed it. Also, the Sens have been through hell as an organization recently, nice to see them starting to break out a bit. They were the first hockey game in Canada I ever did back in 2005, so I have a small soft spot for them. I kind of like all the Canadian teams for the most part (except Montreal). I used to hate Vancouver too, but now I just feel bad for them. If I had to pick a team a Canadian team it would Calgary because I love coming here and my friend is a big flames fan. That said, I would also love to see McDavid win the cup so I think that disqualifies me as a real big Flames fan :lol.

Missed the Rangers game tonight, but saw Vlad Tarasenko’s sweet OT goal highlight on Sports Net! Nice to see! Showtime tomorrow #88!

I grew up in a Leafs hating house (a tradition I proudly carry on). At some point my younger brother became a Sens fan, so naturally I started rooting against them too, and it's just stuck.

It’s funny watching this Bruins v Rangers game knowing the Rangers have almost no shot of winning. You can really tell this team is missing Miller and Lindgren on D and that Kane and Vlad T are still trying to fit into the lineup. It will take some time to see if it works out.

I am of the opinion that they should have focused on D more than both Kane and Tarasenko, but I’m hoping time will prove me wrong. As for today, I hope we just keep this game close!

Yeah, I mean, playoffs are a different beast for sure, but it’s hard not to think Boston is just going to roll to a Cup.

I personally don’t think the Rangers got better at the deadline so I’m guessing they are a 1st or 2nd round out. Hope Kane and Tarasenko catch fire, but I’m just conditioned for 25+ years of Rangers hockey to assume that brining in older big name stars past their prime will backfire :lol

I put more weight on the former than the latter. I've seen way too many juggernauts, especially President Cup winners *cough* 2018 Lightning *cough*, get heralded as locks before the playoffs just to get humbled by the meat-grinder that is the NHL postseason or a hungry AF low seed with nothing to lose to not think Boston might not struggle compared to expectations. And even if they get through a stacked East, they're likely going to have to play Colorado, who, compared to Boston, is underrated as fuck right now and can definitely hang with them.

The Rangers are playing extremely mid as of late and are down 2 of their 3 top defensemen.

I am truly impressed with the Bruins though. They find a way to win no matter what.

And even if they get through a stacked East, they're likely going to have to play Colorado, who, compared to Boston, is underrated as fuck right now and can definitely hang with them.

Yeah I agree that the playoffs are the real test. No one thought the Rangers would be anything more than a round 1 out last year and they made a surprise run. Boston has also failed as President winners before. This does feel different this year and they are stacked. That said, I would no be surprised at all if Tampa Bay beat them in the playoffs. Until the Bolts lose in the east they are still the masters.

As for the West, I think Colorado and Vegas will be dangerous with possible Dallas and Edmonton making a show of it. I do think I would pick Boston over any team in the west right now if I had to put my money on it though.

you could tell Boston was little off as I think that road trip with Edm/Calgary took some toll. I hope Foligno and Hall are good for the playoffs for depth purposes. The only thing against the Bruins right now are turnovers and lackadaisacal passing around their own goalie. Button that shiznit up and they're flying high. Bertuzzi with an assist in his Bruins debut has me high on his efforts and Orr-love with 8 points in 4 games since coming from Washington is incredible. They're locked in, for sure.

Oh, and that win today against the NYR makes it 10 in a row!

Way too early SCF prediction (may change right before playoffs):

Avs over Bruins

Rangers were on the PK most of the game. I thought the 2nd period was pretty even and a possible ECF look.

Bruins are good.

Rangers are still in a trade deadline funk. Announcers pointed out how Panarin was just throwing it towards Kane whenever he got it. They need to get their chemistry right.

That’s been happening in both games.

Lightning the only team this season to have zero SOG in a period is…something.

We’re either gonna get assblasted by Toronto or win the Cup. There’s no in between.

Philly wants nothing to do with Tony D and this Flyers team

Just to be clear, spearing someone in the nuts and not apologizing is less of a suspension than accidentally spitting on someone and immediately showing remorse and apologizing. I have no problem with the Miller suspension, but I do have a problem with only 2 games for Tony D.

DeAngelo.:lol

Dude is going to be on one or two more teams and then out of the league.

None us want any of these bozos on the team, or in the front office. Chuck Fletcher can be fired into the sun for all I care. Not sure if I’ve ever felt this level of disdain for someone associated with a team I root for in my life.

If you think that was an accidental spit I have some snow in Siberia to sell you.

Accident or not only he knows, but Miller at least said the right things and took the time to apologize to the player, Kings and Media. Also took the time without appeal or a word.

I am 100% on the team of thought that spearing someone’s balls is worse too. Not that I want either in the league at all.
