Might be the best Bruins team since Claude Julien became coach. As long as they don't have injuries with their top 6 forwards (little weak on depth there) they should be primed for a deep run.

We have some decent depth, but for some reason they insist on plugging Jordan Caron into any hole when a forward gets hurt or misses a game lol.

Starting to sound like Toews will be back for round one.

And I completely disagree with the sentiment that Colorado is a bad matchup. With Duchene out now, Hawks will take that one.

Any word on Zetterberg returning? If you guys get both back and end up facing us first round I'm thinking that's another game 7 for the Bruins. Probably going to OT as well as that's been the first round story for us every year lately.

Last I heard of ad first round. Would love to get them both back but it would still take time for Hank to get his legs back.

Powerplay is down in the dumps at the moment, but that's the least of their problems. Flyers need to remain healthy (knock on wood), and keep up the defensive game. They've done a great job against great teams so far.

The PP has been awful, but at times it has been stellar so this slump they are in (on the PP) feels different than their normal slumps. I feel like they can snap out of it any moment, even if that one at the end of regulation was brutal.

That was a tough one, no question. It's not often that the Blue Jackets score 5 goals and still lose 3-2...

... Too soon? :hug

But seriously, every single Avs goal was deflected fairly severely off Blue Jackets players.

Hey, at least we gave you a point though!

It was inspiring to watch the Jackets last night. They seriously WANT this. They are hungry. Really, really want them to get in and do well.

Thanks Avs!!! Now Wings need to get a win in some form or another tonight. That would put them in a fantastic spot. Wants Wings and Jackets as the last two, but would much rather have the Pens than the Bruins. Wings need healthy bodies and some games under their belts if they have any shot against the Bruins.

Just watching the quick look-in's on NHL Network...they looked bad. I think it was the 3rd goal for the Canes was just ugly ugly. Come on Wings get that #1 wild card spot. Although Crosby still scares the shit out of me. Especially without his kryptonite, Zetteberg.

:lol with the caps losing that point keeps them in pretty good shape for the final wild card spot.

they are a fun team to watch.

it was still deflating, not one of the avs 3 goals left the stick of an avs player :BANG plus it looked like they were going to kill off the full 4 on 3 and get to a SO. They probably would have lost that anyways, oh well. Varlamov made some great saves in the 3rd period.

It will be an exciting SCF matchup no doubt.

No reason to risk anything. They aren't falling to the wild card spot and home ice isn't the same in the NHL as other sports so, just get a healthy captain out there.

Seems like it'll be Wings and Jackets in the wild card spots. One of them would have to seriously choke along with TO and WSH pretty much winning out.

my defenseman heart broke when The Gabe's shot went off Johnson's foot like that, then Jack just looked down at BOBROVSKY, pointed at himself with that dejected "my bad" look, patted Bob on the head, and skated off.

Exciting Final, indeed.

I can see where it would be tough for the ref to be unsure on that one. I'm wondering if he realized he screwed up so he compromised by taking the face off outta the zone.

Really complete game by both teams. Fun to watch

fucking bruins.

nyquist is nasty.

Wings at almost 94% chance of making playoffs but JAckets at about 80%. Even though "only" 80, the Caps have a 6.6% chance and Leafs 6.9. Devils actually higher at 12%. So we've got this.

Yep, caps have the highest magic number.

If the jackets go 3-3-1 the caps can only lose two more games.

The devils have a higher % because of how easy their schedule is

Jackets are a sterling 0-8 this year against potential 1st round playoff matchups :lol

I just want them to win one playoff game :lorraine

Hoping Jackets get in but I don't want the Bruins. You guys can have them.

Devils haven't won a shootout all year. Even 5 or 6 of those would have put them in the playoffs right now...

Yeah I just saw that this morning. NHL.com had a poll "what's the most intriguing stat?" and that was one of them. Rangers lead the league with 25 road wins. That surprises me.

Going to the game tonight. Hope we put a nail in the BJ's coffin.

Flyers in a shootout or OT would be my preference. Thanks. I want the Jackets in, but I want to the Wings to keep the top WC spot.

That's not really possible to do tonight.

I fully expect them to lose.

Unless Mason has anxiety issues.

Blackhawks 5-15 in OT/shootout, all 5 wins via shooutout, 8 losses via shootout. That's why I think they beat the Avs in the playoffs when real hockey determines the outcome.

That means they are 0-7 in OT then right? While it's real hockey, their OT record ain't so good. Not that it matters much, just saying.

Their OT record is really weird to me. You would think a team with forwards like Kane, Toews, Hossa, Sharp and blue liners like Keith, Seabrook, Oduya, and Hjalmarsson would excel at 4 on 4 hockey...but apparently they suck.

Which shows me they can't get it done in OT. :D

Of the four times the Avalanche beat the Hawks this year, only one was decided in extra time, and that was an OT victory. I would say, according to your implied definition of "real hockey", that the Avs have done just fine.

But, in all fairness, I need to again reiterate the fair amount of skepticism I have that the Avs - as proud as I am of them this season - can beat the Hawks in four playoff games. Completely different game when the playoffs start, and the Hawks know how to play it. It will still be an awesome series, and there's plenty of room for hope for the Avs.

I also believe the Hawks have an extra gear for the post season that they haven't really used this regular season because of how much hockey a lot of those guys have played in the past couple of year. That belief is based on nothing other than my personal opinion :lol

Having an extra gear is a completely valid opinion, based no more highly than on the amount of Cup rings they've won in recent years. :thumbsup

I get that the fatigue factor is an excuse that is used, but I don't necessarily like it.

It's nice to have some of these playoff seedings all but set... means we can start the trash talking early! :lol

Teams who have won before, probably can find the late season grind cumbersome. They know how to turn it on at the right time. Wings did it in 2009. The problem is that sometimes the team as a whole can't find the gear and snap out of their funk. I want to see tough long series all over the place in the West. Should be fantastic series for the most part.

Also in super awesome news, Datsyuk sure looks like he'll be back Friday. Taking part in line rushes at practice, which he hasn't the last few days. Alfie is still out but Pavel will be a huge help.

The pens cannot be excited to face the Wings

It's a much better matchup for the Wings than the Bruins. Pens could still win since they have two of the best players in the world but still like the matchup more. Plus the Wings, assuming they keep it up, on a roll while the Pens are struggling.

No complaints from me on this matchup, Wings are one of the very few teams I wouldn't like the B's to face lol.
