Although I wonder if Kiss' music was recorded. Pretty sure no one hit their guitars on the last note of one sing during the first intermission.

Oh yeah it was an absolute blast! Just wish they would've gotten one goal so we could all cheer. The experience itself was priceless.

KISS was really cool but no way they were not playing recorded music. Still put on a great show at that age though!

Last night was super fun to watch, but today... well this is absolutely perfect and what the outdoor games are all about. The spectacle has been so fun and I'm glad having multiple games this year hasn't worn off the luster of outdoor hockey.

Why are they playing the goal horn when NJ scores?

Absolutely agree. The NHL can market the shit out of these, continue to exploit this spectacle, and I will enjoy every single one. This is awesome.

Prefer the old school green devils uniforms.

And yeah, jagr is phenomenal. He was drafted 1 spot ahead of islanders pick. Torrey was still picking back then so I can just imagine what could have been.

I muted it as he started talking. Or maybe switched back to the Sharks game. In any case, I knew I didn't want to hear what he had to say.

We play a lot of games like this. If Grabner could only score more on breakaways, he'd be a consistent 30 goal scorer. That is why he passed it to Okposo.

Perron's been one of the more underrated pickups recently. Obviously he can't carry the whole team to the playoffs, but dude's done his part offensively. :thumbsup

LOVE the Perron pickup. He's been the most consistent player on the ice all year for the Oil.

As for Ott, it's through my brother who skates with Disney on Ice. They met backstage at one of their stops in Dallas a few years ago, and have been somewhat-friends ever since. They help each other out getting free tickets for each other. My brother is in town this week and got our family tickets. I haven't met Steve...I may tonight, and if I do I will report back on any douchieness.

That being said, my brother said he's a great guy off the ice. Has hung out with him (and his family) on more than one occasion.

:lol That may be the first and only time I've seen "Ott" and "Disney on Ice" in the same sentence. Even so, that's cool to hear! Have fun at the game.

It seems most players play with a certain edge and persona on the ice which is completely different from their real personality off it. Ott was not a popular player when he played for our minor league team here because of his attitude and off-ice antics (especially in uber-conservative SLC), but then again that was over ten years ago and he was just beginning his career as a pro hockey player. He has definitely matured a lot over the years.

I love my Caps, but watching them is so frustrating this season. So inconsistent. They'll play so sloppy in the neutral zone and their own end with bad turnovers, poor passes, running around... Then the next minute they'll put something pretty together and score. They could easily be a top 3 team in the wast with some consistency. Especially with the league's goals leader.

Didn't sleep well last night and that is rare for me. I'm guessing I'm overly excited for the game tonight or maybe just afraid of frostbite.

I think I have enough layers prepared. I could always take a layer off, right, but it would suck if I didn't bring enough.

Hope for a win. Would suck to go thru it all and us lose. Kind of sad how many tickets are available on the cheap this week. I thought it would be a hot ticket so I bought them when they went on sale.

Did not get to meet Steve. There is a family trip starting today so they all had their families with them last night, and no room for us scrubs. Awesome, awesome seats he hooked up though. 200 level in one of the corners, 5th row - makes for GREAT sightlines.

Was a fun game to watch, being that I had no rooting interest. Back and forth all night...was surprised the Caps couldn't lock it down early after going up 2-0 so quickly. Live NHL hockey is the best.

Only watched parts of the game last night but pretty much what I expected to happen, happened. When the guy who was slated to be your #4 center at the start of the season, is now your #1, you've got problems. First time since Franzen came into the league in 05-06 that the Red Wings have played a game without him, Datsyuk and Zetterberg. They are hanging on by a thread.

:lol yeah, there's still a lot of hockey to be played, they'll be around in the end that's all that really matters this year.

i've had friends over the last 2 nights to watch the games, both new hockey fans. both games have been heart breakers and my one buddy who started going to games with me last year whe the jackets were in dead last place said "it was almost more fun just to watch when we didn't have any expectations".

it's kind of true.

i remember going to a blackhawks game last year, jackets lost by a goal after they had one dis-allowed but all I remember thinking when I left the arena was how amazing it was to see Kane play in person.

The part about no expectations I agree with. While I don't understand the regular season idea, last year losing in the 2nd round was a hell of a lot of fun. I thought they could beat the Ducks but if they lost wouldn't have surprised me. Then to go up 3-1 on the Hawks was great.

I haven't seen Kane play live yet. Had that experience with Brett Hull once though. Not even in the early 90's. It was 1999 I think and just watching him get open was amazing. He would find the smallest area and still get a rocket of a shot off. He scored both goals for the Stars in a 2-2 tie.

If I was a wings fan I'd feel differently I'm sure :lol

I just want to see CBJ playing meaningful games into the spring. That has only really happened twice. I'm praying they make the playoffs but if nothing else it's progress. Still a very young team.

It is your birthday, Matthew. /Dwight

Also, Sather going to Sather. Callahan might get moved? Are they serious?

You'll get there where you want more than just the playoffs. If you get to the Wings or where like Blackhawks and Pens fans are now, you can start to take it for granted. A lot more fun when you just go along for the ride.

I've seen the rumors too. Would be so dumb to trade Callahan

this game is so awesome.
the way the ice looks reminds me of how our backyard rink looked at night with the flood lights shining on it.

Rangers 3-0 in outdoor games! Best record in modern NHL! Maybe we should play outdoors all season!

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Anyone know why the Rangers got two games at the stadium, while the Devils and Islanders only got one each? Is it just based on their fan base and predicted revenue and hype?

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Yes to the above question. Rangers are the more marketable team of the three.

This is exactly it. They wanted to get all the teams involved and so someone has to play twice so it's gonna be the Rangers.
