The Pens worst decision was getting rid of Staal. I understand that he wanted to play with his brother, but the return they got for him has not panned out. The Pens were deadly with those three down the center.

In saying that, I do hope the Red Wings face them if they make the playoffs. I think they match up better against the Pens than Bruins. They would need Zetterberg back though, cause he always plays well against Crosby.

no doubt, but there was no keeping him...pens offered him more money than the hurricanes signed him for...they couldn't go any higher with their cap situation

it's actually amazing what shero got back in that deal considering carolina knew the situation

i'm just saying, you need guys like tanner glass especially, and adams to some degree, to win a cup

gibbons and megna do not belong on an NHL roster, at all...they've got heart and work ethic, i'll give them that...but that's all they have

and i agree about the minutes argument, but that's on bylsma, he better learn that it's ok to match lines, especially at home, or we're fucked

we have better versions of glass and adams though. Adams has some of the worst corsi numbers, both even strength and on the pk in the entire league. Glass isnt too far behind. Our pk is was great with Staal and Cooke and Dupuis, I think it can survive with Adams and Glass. I just dont understand the need to put him out there to defend a one goal lead.

no thanks, zetterberg can stay out!

i want nothing to do with the wings in the playoffs

True. But I wonder if the Pens would have risked keeping him for that final year for one more shot at the Cup.

I mean let's face it, the Pens are a great destination for free agents. The only problem they would have attracting is the salary cap, but I'm sure there would be a few willing veterans who would take a price cut to play with Crosby and Malkin--actually have a shot at the Cup.

How many times have they blown a 3-1 or 2-0 lead? Can find the 3-1 series lead as 4 times. I thought they had the Pens in 2009.

don't forget tyler kennedy for those few years too

i hear what you're saying, but the alternative is to have literally NO grit or tenacity in the lineup...they need the little they have IMO...adams, ok fine get him off the ice, but not glass too...imagine how many shots the pens would be giving up every game with no glass out there

but adams has no grit. glass will hit someone after the puck is gone. the only reason glass blocks so many shots is because neither he nor adams can get the puck out of the zone.

i'd love to see anyone except philly or boston specifically...i just think the wings are an awful matchup for anyone, not to mention that babcock would out-coach the shit out of bylsma

Between the blown series leads and the game 7 melts, it's ugly. Caps have a terrible game 7 record as a franchise, and I'm sure they hold the league lead for most blown 3-1 series leads. I can think of at least 4 off the top of my head and there might be more. It's happened twice since Ovie came on board

ehh agree to disagree, i think the alternative to having those guys out is worse than having them in

you make great points, but how do they fix it? i can't guy that more ice time for gibbons and megna is the answer

Simmonds on NYR: "If we play them in the playoffs, they’re going to definitely know what the Philadelphia Flyers are bringing to the table.”

This team is oozing with confidence. I love it.

Yeah...my god. Poor Caps have to look at the Pens coming in a playoff series and think ah shit. The Blues had that with the Wings. Wings beat them in 96, 97, 98 and 2002.

the excuses will be lined up though, we were too injured, dupuis and letang were out, our goalie blew it, we didnt get to our game..etc.

To be honest I'd much rather get Boston than Pitt. And the Bruins are a waaaaay better team

I hope Babcock doesn't get bored and want to go somewhere like the Pens and coach Sid. Although if Bylsma gets fired this year it won't happen, since Babs has a contract through next season. After Trotz is there any active coach who has been with a team longer than Babs?

Rebecca De Mornay 03-25-2014 01:10 PM

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

that'd be cool if the pens fired bylsma and he came to CBJ as an assistant coach under Richards like the old days.

he just refuses to change anything, even if it isnt working. i keep going back to this but, why take iginla off the pp last year when it was going so well?
