So Sabres offered Vanek to the Leafs...interesting.

Tonight is a BIG game. Only still October but it is a big game.

Not really sure how big of a game it is. The Rangers are having a bad start, missing their top three scorers, and are coming off a game last night. Only a big game if the Islanders lose, because it is a game they should win if they are to be taken seriously this season.

Yes, it's a big game for us more than the Rag$. Was talking from our perspective. With Talbot in nets, Moulson scoring 2 last night, Snow putting the team on notice, they need to come out strong and win. Don't even care if Vanek scores, though it would be nice. Pressure is on us at home to win this one.

Think you guys will make a move for a goalie at some point?

I think the (soon to not be) Islanders are limited with what they have in net. An upgrade in that department could see them make a legit run at it though.

Flyers will sure look good with Saad on their roster in 2026. I may preorder the jersey now.

Ha! This is fantastic, and no I hadn't seen it so thanks for sending it my way.

Been saying it for a few years now: Yandle is a guy you want on your team. Not as big as Chara, not as shot-heavy as Weber, etc. But man... this guy has instincts like you wouldn't believe. Think Nick Lidstrom. Love me some Yandle.

I don't think we go for a goalie. They had the chance to upgrade in the summer and didn't and brought back Nabokov for 1 year. Unless Poulin falters and can't win games as the backup, I doubt we make a move there. If Poulin fails and our AHL goalie Nilsson not playing well, they could deal for a veteran backup.

Nabokov needs to only play 55 games or so. Any more than that and I think he'll wear down so we need to get good play from Poulin.

Nabby is capable if the D plays well in front of him. I'd grade the D core as a D so far. It's been bad. Ryan Miller may steal a game or 2 more but it won't matter much if the play in front of the goalie doesn't get better.

After seeing a few more details, Buffalo taking on some of vanek's contract and the Islanders having the option to change the first rd pick from 2014 to 2015 if we have a pick in the top 10. This trade was a no brain-er.

Of course, we had better not have a pick in the top 10. :D

I can see the Isles resigning Vanek, yeah. Number 1 priority will probably be a goalie, though. Could Regier and Snow be back on the phone later? Only if Snow finds some draft picks to toss over the fence.

They're talking about Miller right now, apparently.

Wow, Regier bent Snow over on that Vanek deal though :lol

Far from it but we won't til the end of the season on how to grade it. Sabres have the edge right now but it can't be officially graded til the summer

I hope they end up in the top 10 this year and give Buffalo the 2015 1st. More assets for McDavid. This team is going to suck for a while anyways....

Our AHL defense with too many breakdowns and a dumb too many men on the ice penalty dooms us.

Way to go Isles.

We can go long stretches of dominant play in the Rags zone and then give up a countering goal because OUR D SUCKS!!!! Awful 3rd Goal.

Costly defensive mistake gives Rags, a team without its best players and on second of a back to back game, the win.

Pathetic.

What good is adding more offensive talent if the D still sucks.

Time to go beat the wife and kids. J/K :p

My fantasy team is rocking it tonight, though.

CBJ plays a home and "home" with pittsburgh this weekend. Need to find a way to get 2 points.

I'm guessing Nationwide will be 90% pens fans Saturday night and I will hate my life.

Big game last night!! :D. jK

However, it was an impressive win for the Rangers in a game I thought they would lose for sure. If they can string a few together now we might be ok.

That being said....wow the west is so much better than the east haha.

That's gotta suck for local fans. That short road trip the Wings had to Col. and PHX, there were a crap ton of Wings fans, it looked like a neutral site game. I like it but I'm sure the Avs and Yotes fans didn't. And the poor Coyote fans, the few they have, they get that a lot I'm sure.

Last Friday against the Leafs was the worst I have ever seen it and Pittsburgh is 2.5 hours closer than Toronto :lol. It has to be demoralizing for the players too. The team just needs to go on a run so that they are still competitive when college football ends, then the city will get behind them again. Last year was so much fun down the stretch.

When I first moved to Boston (before they got awesome!) I used to go to games every Thursday and Saturday. Never failed that when the Leafs, Habs or Sabers were in town the arena wise like 30% Bruins fans and 60% percent the away team. The other 10% was empty.

That always sucked.
