Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
SJ no guarantee to win their division though as Yotes are breathing down their neck at the moment. While SJ has more talent than Phoenix the yotes would still be a tough team to play against and have given Hawks fits this year.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Since you guys are talking first round matchups, I'll go ahead and say that I want NO part of the pens in the first round, with or without Sid. They are strong and fast and always seem to be a step ahead of the rangers. Their PP scares the shit out of me, especially considering we can't score on the PP. we need to play 5 on 5 to beat them.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
Fun fact:
There are four teams in the Atlantic Division that have 70+ points, and only one (Boston) with 70+ between the teams in the Southeast and Northeast division. |

No collapse for the Capitals this year, they haven't been right since November.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I thought it was a mistake to fire Boudreau midseason, and an even bigger mistake to hire Hunter. Washington is just a mess.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
I would be concerned but I and everyone knows what this team is capable of. They are still in beast mode at home (tied with Rangers for best in the East at home) and are only a point from the final spot in the east. A solid move at the deadline combined with a healthy Green and NickyLars this team is back in business. And like I said before I would LOVE to face the Rangers in the first round. Caps own the Rangers in the playoffs and Torts loves to shit the bed.

Plus, the Capitals have half of their remaining 24 games on the road, so that "beast mode" at home isn't going to do them much good if they can't pick up any points during road games down the road, which include stops in: Detroit, Chicago, Boston (twice), Philadelphia and MSG. |

Dear Chicago fans,
How hard is it to get tickets to home games? Are they expensive at all?? Lots of scalper action or what? Any info is good info! |

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread
The Avs just traded Kyle Quincey to TB for Steve Downie.
I have not been a Downie fan, but he has reigned in his Avery-ness over the past season so I'm willing to give him a shot. At his best, he's an agitating, pretty talented forward who sticks up for his teammates. The Avs need some grittiness on their roster right now, especially someone who can play on the 2nd line if needed. At his worst though, he's a major distraction to the team who takes bad penalties at bad times. We'll see. The loss of Quincey does not concern me too much. He was average offensively (a great skater, however) who was weak in his own zone and shied away from physicality. Basically a poor man's Brian Campbell. He will be missed on the PP, but with Erik Johnson finally hitting his groove I'm ok. Also, loved this Buccigross tweet: Quote:
EDIT: For those of you out East who don't know, the Colorado Avalanche are a team in the wild, wacky western part of the US, where hockey hasn't fully developed yet and doesn't really matter. The team is a bunch of has-beens, never was's, and cast offs. Misfits, just like every other hockey team in the western US. ;) |
