Re: The NHL Thread
Wings turn a nice dominate performance, although not on the scoreboard, into an almost calamitous ending. That just shows how little confidence they have. One goal gets scored and they fold up. A fucking empty-netter that made it 3-0 was the the game winner. Amazing......Whether they get in the playoffs or not, I can't wait till next season. We need to hit the reset button badly.

Re: The NHL Thread
Can we just start the playoffs now?!

Can we talk more about Ghost? Still don't think he'll win Calder because no Flyer ever has. #garageleague The instincts on this guy though. Wow.

Re: The NHL Thread
baseball is so boring, why would I be a fan of something boring?
Panera plays with Patrick Kane or whoever. Anyone can score when they play with those guys. Plus, Panera is like 33 years old. |
Re: The NHL Thread
Thought on Jimmy Vesey screwing the Preds over by going back on his word?
Seems like the millennials are creating a lot of issues for NHL management that is used to traditional professionalism. |
Re: The NHL Thread
One twitter post I saw from one of the media members made a good point. How many times have we seen a GM say he wasn't going to trade a player and then trade that player and then say "It's a business." It's well within the GM's right to do that, because it is a business but now they get upset when a player does does the same thing?
I'd be pissed if I was the Preds or a Preds fan but...it is a business. |

Also, to me there is a difference between being a pro and not being a pro. Jimmy Vesey has never played a professional game yet. He has not really earned the right to act like that. He knew he had second thoughts about signing with Nashville and decided to let them think he was still on board...which did alter how the team went about the trade deadline. I don't really see any reason for it either. It only served to F Nashville over. To me there is not much of a difference between him and Drouin right now. There is a level of entitlement and loss of trust that does not sit well with me. |

He's 24, in his first NHL season, is 14 points better than the nearest rookie, and is a main reason the defending Cup champs are even talking about the playoffs. Kid wins the Calder without blinking. It's a great year for rookies, no doubt, but Panarin is the clear winner. If McDavid were healthy the whole year, he seems like the frontrunner, but for now, I think it comes down to: Panarin Domi Gostisbehere And Panarin wins. |

The issue is not being honest about his intentions. Especially when there seems to be absolutely zero reason for it. It would not have been a big deal to let the organization know he was going to UFA. At the very least let them know he was undecided to let them make a decision on if they wanted to risk it. It almost seems as though he just couldn't be bothered with it, so he just said "yeah sure, I will sign." |

For example, I receive that link and respond with "Thanks, I'll take a look." Then if I wanted to rant like he did, I'd pick up the phone or do it person. |

Until he signs, you can't be 100% sure of anything. I know it sucks, but it's just a fact of the game. If the owners hate it, they need to collectively bargain something better. |

Bettman is a smart guy, love him or hate him, he's fucking smart. I'm sure there's plenty he's said in person to these guys that he would never type in an email. |

I agree, they should bargain something better. Again though, my issue is not him wanting to test the market (as per his right under the CBA), it is how he let the Predators believe he was all in and then pulled the carpet from under them. I believe in second and even third chances, but this was not a great start for this kid when it comes to image. |
