Good one from Proteau in light MacT's presser.

Adam Proteau ‏@Proteautype 18h18 hours ago To record a Edmonton Oilers Hat Trick, you must post 1. A double-digit-game losing streak; 2. A minor trade; & 3. A lip service press event.

Swordo and MikeD, I'm sorry guys. :hug

Talk about a once proud franchise going in the crapper. Hell, just look at where they were 8.5 years ago going to the finals. Getting guys like Peca and Pronger and then Pronger wanted out and boom. They need to clean house upsatirs though. The guys who got them here, keep their jobs and the coaches keep getting axed. Time for a face lift.

ever since the goaltending coach change we've only been losing by 1 or 2 instead of 5 or 6. Progress! Rebuild!

I didn't see Brunner was put in waivers yesterday. He cleared today but wow. He really should have stayed here. I think things would have been different.

Gotta record the game tonight but I can't wait to see Preds vs Hawks tonight. Battle for the top of the Central!

All alone in second place in the Atlantic. Rangers had 5:24 of power play time in the third and I think 2:36 of it was 5 on 3 and Wings killed it all. Great come back win.

Man, how strange. Remember when he was demanding a huge contract after his first season in Detroit? I still remember this nifty move:

Bummer.

Yeah. In the playoffs the line of him Andersson and Nyquist was damn good. Wings I think offered him a 2 year deal and a 3 year deal and he thought he deserved more money or term. His team missed the playoffs last year and is out right now. Wings, if they win tonight, would be tied for most points in the league. I think the Wings knew what they were doing.

Indeed. Not the outcome I was hoping for but it was a good game. There will be plenty more meetings.

MacLean is out in Ottawa. Kinda surprising. Don't imagine he'll be out of a job long (if he wants it).

Also, are Swordo and MikeD still sloshed from the celebrating the Oilers win last night?

Re: The NHL Thread

You guys, how about Aaron Ekblad. Not too much talk about his play this year (until now that he's got points in 4 straight), but he's playing REALLY well as a rookie defenseman. I caught a bit of the Panthers game the other night and he looks really strong in his own end. And this is for the PANTHERS. I'm excited to see where his career goes. You have to think having a guy like Mitchell around helps.

We're all surprised the Oilers managed to win one.

It's still such a hollow, empty feeling though as they are still the same terrible hockey club with no signs of real change on the horizon. Ah well, a win is a win I suppose!

met the kid at the draft, very nice, but also very intimidating. I can only imagine the amount of tail he's pulling in.

Isn't that the point. You sound like a Kings fan or something. Oh, wait.

I have just had terrible luck with fantasy goaltending so far. Mike Smith was so incredibly bad for the two months I had him and Varly can't stay healthy. Antti Raanta and Karri Ramo it is I guess. I'm actually reasonably happy with that tandem for now. Somehow I'm still holding on to first place.

So doing a ticket drive in Vegas to gauge interest. I'm very curious about how it will work out. If it sucks, I wonder if they'll let us know or just let it fall off the radar.

Bettman said his best guess for the cap next year if the Canadian dollar keeps pretty stagnant is about $73,000,000. He typically give an underestimate to be safe, and I'm hoping the Canadian dollar bounces back a little, so let's call it probably $74-$75 next year. Teams are going to have decisions to make.

I think this a huge mistake and not from, say, the gambling perspective. Vegas is a night time town. If I go there as a tourist, I'm going to see a show at night, not a hockey game, especially if I'm with the wife. Maybe if I'm with my brother but that is a big maybe as a nice dinner at an elite restaurant would be more enticing than a hot dog. Not to mention, where does their fan base comes from since it is a tourist town.

It won't work, imo.
