Absolutely. Wouldn't be surprised to see $5-6 mil.

this is my point

great signing by the pens IMO, but i'm perplexed by the 1-year

i'm still a little surprised they even pursued a defensman in FA

5 years for Benoit Pouliot? the hell?

And at $4 mil/per. Good for him. Amazing what one reasonably strong postseason can do.

I was too. Came out of nowhere. Good signing by Rutherford.

Nisky is going to get paid. But whoever does it will probably regret it in a year.

Buffalo needs to spend about $21mil to get to the floor. keep that in mind.

Maybe he feels he'll have a great year and get even more $$ a year from now.

it worries me about the farm system though

it's still clogged up with fairly young D-men, and there's only 1 new spot on the blue line after the erhoff signing

so, when maata comes back, you'd have what?

letang-martin
erhoff-maata
scuderi-bortuzzo

??

i'm thinking more from the pens perspective, i guess 1-year makes sense but i was thinking more along the lines of 3 years...oh well, we'll see

I'm wondering if they move someone like Scuderi (if someone will take him). If not, at least Ehrhoff is only on the 1 year deal.

I dont see Scuds lasting long, he just is not going to fit in, especially at his cost. Theres also been rumors about trading Martin. Erhoff's possession stats are great, and he is a better ppqb than letang and martin.
pp: Hornqvist - Crosby - Malkin

Letang - Erhoff

i would not want them to trade marting, i love what he brings

and what would they do with scuds? just cut him i guess? seems impractical with their cap issues, no? just thinking out loud here

Re: The NHL Thread

One RT I saw that Caps might be close to signing Nisk. Must be good money because Detroit and Tampa can pay him and are much better positioned to win now.

Yep. He did.

EDIT: What does it tell you about the state of the Leafs when Gorges wouldn't waive his NMC to go to TOR but would for BUF? :lol

I wouldnt want to move him either, but the return he might fetch could be good for our forward depth. Someone would take scuds. two time cup winner, teams that need to add space.
