The Avs played very well last night and like I said yesterday, were very opportune and patient. Kudos to the shorthanded Avs for hanging in there, persevering, and coming out with a win. There were moments of "skating circles", but it was not as lopsided as you make it sound, sir.

That being said, the Blackhawks are the best team in the league, so I understand them controlling portions of the game and even expect it. And yes, a 46 save performance from Varlamov certainly shouldn't go unnoticed. He was the best player - of any team - on the ice last night.

@EdmontonOilers #Oilers acquire forward Matt Hendricks from @PredsNHL in exchange for goaltender Devan Dubnyk.

I guess their going with the whole 'addition by subtraction' thing with Scooby-doobie-do. We must be better off without him...??? Odd trade, but there are more changes coming in Oil Country.

Zus and Bollig is the worst possible combination on the team, unless they are paired up in on the "scratched" list, which they should be, every game.

UFA at the end of the year and I doubt he's sticking around in EDM. Short term for Preds makes sense with no Rinne.

Yeah, that's certainly a factor. He wasn't going to be their #1 next year, so it doesn't make sense to keep him around. I guess I don't mind the Hendricks pickup. A solid 3rd liner, but we need D...and a goalie.

For my money the only untouchables on the team should be Eberle, Hall, J. Schultz and Ference, and maybe Perron (he's been great for the team this year). I won't be sad if anyone else gets moved.

With Quick back healthy, they have no need for him anymore. Glad he landed in Edmonton. He's got history with Eakins so let's give it a shot for the next 30 games, ya know? If it works out, great re-sign him if not he's a UFA and can let him walk. He's from (a suburb of) Edmonton so I'm sure he likes that he's going home.

Scrivens is great! Hope he works out there. I knew they were going to dump him and stick with Jones.

Because it's Bruce behind the bench, and I like him because he says what he feels and seems to have a lot of fun, I keep thinking it's just the regular season. Yes it's a different team than he had with the Caps but Ducks were good last year too and they got bounced early.

bonzo48280 01-16-2014 05:58 AM

The ducks will blow it in the playoffs again, and it will be hilarious.

Hows the view of the game being so close to the benches? Did you find you missed much? It seems like a cool spot, but I'd have concerns over what I can and cannont see. Maybe being able to hear all the trash-talk and interactions makes up for it?
