Re: The NHL Thread (where home field advantage matters!)

So the Sharks are without Thornton and Couture, and the Ducks now will be without Fowler.

West is really limping its way into the playoffs.

Brad Marchand has a hearing with the NHL for spearing.

Re: The NHL Thread (where home field advantage matters!)

With Marchand's history and the fact he got off easy for his trip against Kronwall earlier in the year I think the minimum he gets is 3 games. The bruins only have 2 regular season games left which means he'll most likely miss at least a playoff game. But with his history I think 4 games is about where the wheel of justice will land.

Re: The NHL Thread (where home field advantage matters!)

hearing probably means suspension. I'm guessing he'll get a game or two at the most. I understand his history, but the league doesn't usually suspend for something like that

Re: The NHL Thread (where home field advantage matters!)

Anyone have video of it?

EDIT: nvm found it.

He got a game miscounduct so I would be shocked if he misses a playoff game. League will suspend him 1 or 2 at most. I would guess 1.

Re: The NHL Thread (where home field advantage matters!)

Keith got 5 games for his stick hit last year. Marchand has a worse history than Keith. Something tells me the NHL will levy at least 1 playoff game against him. But what do I know the NHL has their head up their asses half the time

I acutally am starting to think they are healthier than they are letting on. I fully expect Geno and Letang to play in the first round. I dont think that Rust and Cullen are really hurt, I just think they were being cautious.

Getting home field over CBJ I actually think is a big advantage in that series.

1 with an appeal then a dropped appeal would be perfect.

Re: The NHL Thread (where home field advantage matters!)

for Marchand?

Probably deserves 5 games.

Should and will probably get 2 maybe 3.....It was so dumb..it almost took me out of the win and the playoff birth because it was just so stupid and unneeded.

The next two games are important for seeding..and now they will likely be without him. such a dope

it's been a while. at least we don't add another team so we can enjoy the playoffs

Marchand is as dirty as they come. He was lucky to get away a couple times without a suspension earlier in the year. I'd be surprised if it's anything less than 3 games or anything more

No burn. Just stating the yearly trend.

Your trend doesn't make sense though. Bruins haven't been in the playoffs for a couple years. Sounds like an alternative fact honestly.

Pretty sure this is the same opinion many hockey fans hold. The best playoffs in sports start in about a week and we are focused on something that is likely to happen in just under a year. Priorities backwards IMO.

I do not see many CBJ games at all, truthfully last week when they played Chicago I was stunned at how dirty and downright irritating they are.

Not that it is likely to happen but I'd love to see another Hawks/Bruins SCF - I would happily drive the 3+ hours to Boston to catch a game.

As cool as I think it is that the Avs put up 50 shots on the Blackhawks, scored two shorties, etc., I can't help but temper that with the fact that the Hawks knew they didn't need this win and were probably playing pretty conservatively the whole game.

Was a fun game to watch. I would not temper it too much to be honest because on a bad day the Hawks are still better than most. Sure, you can say Darling is a second stringer but he'd be a starter on many teams. Keith did not play but that is still a solid D corps even without him. Hawks cut the ice time of their best players and gave more to the younger guys like Kero, Hinestroza, Schmaltz, Hartman and such but who cares. Av's came back from a 3-0 deficit to win in OT against a damn good team even if they juggled the lines and playing time, I did not think they had that comeback in them, was a fun game to watch. Also, that Jost kid is a lot of fun to watch play.

No problem saying that I have no interest in hockey if it doesn't involve the Bruins. Wouldn't watch a second of the playoffs if they weren't in it.

Edit... actually, I'd watch game 7 of the final series. That's about it though. As long as there's not a good American Picker's re-run on anyway. :lol

I'd get a little Marchand in my pants for another Haws/Bruins series...Bruins would probably get swept but I would do everything I could to get to Chicago for game

No shame in that. I love hockey but it's the lesser of the 4 major sports. Just the reality of the situation.

Its not just bruins fans, this thread gets the randoms that pop in this time of year.

But since you mentioned it, yes now you are ruining the pleasant dynamics of this thread.
