I just find it funny that a lot of players talk about respecting one another on the ice, but when it's the playoffs it just seems like that mantra is thrown out the window and anything goes.

For instance, the famous Domi-Niedermayer incident from '99 when Tie Domi just cheap shot Nieds with an elbow to the head while THE PLAY IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ICE. Niedermayer never saw it and got crushed. I don't think anything happened to Domi outside of a game misconduct. He should have been kicked out of the league.

yea these guys don't truly respect each other, that much is clear

this playoffs has ALL the headshots. ALL OF THEM.

Round 1 was reviewed offsides calls, round 2 is headshots/suspensions.

Quick post from work as I saw no hearing as expected and those not calling it a head shot , fwiw , it's been reported Hickey was bleeding from mouth and teeth last night so something happened from hit . Wears a mouth guard so could have bite tongue or something if it really wasn't head shot.

Again , I wish something was called but not blaming the loss on it. It was unfortunate nothing was called but we needed to win that in regulation . I know I called out JT but Capuano wanted 2 centers out for the face off prior to goal and JT was 7-11 last night so I guess I will lay off that .

We got the wrong end of several calls last night so hopefully we get a key one in our favor next game.

So, what kind of Pens Caps game are we going to see tonight? I'm excited - I was thinking about seeing if the Mrs. wanted to come downtown to watch on Mario's TV, but its looking like the weather might not cooperate.

the 1st period, moreover, the first few minutes will be huge

if the Caps carry more momentum into the first period and score first, i think they'll tie the series up tonight

if not, it's going to be a dog fight

First goal wins. That's my honest opinion.

I feel like it will either be a straight up goal-tender duel, or something ridiculous like a 12-14 goal total.

Yep. Especially if it's early.

If the Caps get it, they settle in and play a solid game and win.

If the Penns get it, the Caps start to feel the nerves and panic begins to set in and they lose.

That's how I see it going down.

Everything will seem to be going the Caps way until it's revealed that the Penns took a page right out of Greg Goldberg's book and ice their newest defenseman, Marc Andre Fleury.

What will most likely happen: Caps will play a solid game and lose

Too bad the Penns can't utilize the Flying V.

Since, you know, Pennguins can't fly.

But they COULD slide on their bellies in a V formation.

...

I'm now imagining Malkin doing just that. :lol

Re: The NHL Thread

This is pretty much it for the Caps. If they can't figure this game out they are done. A team that actually wins a Cup digs really deep here and fucking makes it happen. Fuck Murray. Fuck lucky bounces. Fuck excuses. Real Cup teams fucking figure it out.

I bet I know how it ends.
