Nice to see Crash well be back sooner than expected. Flyers may not even be in last place at the time, though truthfully, they should be ahead of the Devils.

In real hockey news, Isles still haven't come to terms with Brock Nelson, which stinks and rumor has them offering a contract to Zidlicky. I'd rather see Pulock get the chance than sign a veteran but maybe Pulock not yet ready. Zdlicky is steady.

Flyers won't be worse than the Devils and Hurricanes. I've got em 6th in the division.

Sabres lock up Cody Franson for 2 years, $6.6 million. They've made some decent acquisitions this offseason. Spent a lot of money, sure, but some decent acquisitions in terms of ability.

I'm interested to see if we see any other pre-training camp moves or if teams are gonna stand pat for now and see if they identify any holes once training camp gets going.

Sabres will be good until teams figure out their system and Bylsma is too stubborn to shake things up

They going Brooklyn to look like the Nets, I guess...you know, the Black.

When it was leaked weeks, I was all over saying, nah, it has to be some sort of practice jersey.

I guess they will be coming out to "Gangsta's Paradise" when they wear those jerseys.

I must admit the jerseys look a little better when I saw pictures of Tavares on the ice in it but I still have a big problem with it because black is not and should never be an Islanders color. If the Brooklyn people wanted it and it's a concession , so be it.

I wish the stadium series jersey became the 3rd jersey but I'm sure the money game deemed a New Jersey necessary to milk the fans out of more cash.

The NHL isn't that dumb to jump the gun first. The NBA will be first. The NHL is too busy working on expanding to new markets and gaining new fans...advertisements on jerseys alienates fans and detracts from the growth they need right now.

Bettman's biggest fight has always been expanding hockey to new areas. It's such a niche sport, still, and Bettman knows better than to take away from the momentum he's built just to make short term profits. He's not business dumb, as much as people hate him. I actually like him as a commish, and think he's smart enough to know that he needs to keep building and thinking long term.

Lots of Meh Prospects. I liked Nilsson, and Verhenge (however you spell his name). Nilsson was good on the back end. Smooth skater, not afraid to hit people and a good shot.

Finn will never play in the NHL. Gibson did alright when I saw him. Beck was the former Nashville guy, right?

I don't know a ton about Grabner, other than he is an NHL player. This will also give us a good opportunity to sign the 18,000 PTO's we've got.

So Patrick Kane just spoke to the media for the first time. Basically said nothing of interest, apologized to his family, teammates and the organization, and added that he is "confident he will be absolved of any wrong doing". From what I understand he basically deflected all questions with the ongoing investigation line.

I'm not surprised at the move. Once Brock was signed, we had too many forwards and someone had to go. Grabner been shopped all summer . At first I thought Toronto gave us their trash for Bridgeport depth but upon further review , it looks like one or 2 could be serviceable in nhl if injuries occurred.

Grabner was well liked but has been injured often and I wish him well. I'm happy he is gone.

Re: The NHL Thread

I forgot the most important thing about finally trading Grabner. They shed his $5 million dollar contract for this which gives us tremendous flexibility to make a deal to add someone, especially since our cupboard is still so stocked with prospects.

They also signed Steve Bernier today after the trade. He can be our 13th forward for 750K....much more economical.

Camp underway. I was all for signing Zdlicky a couple of months ago but was excited when we didn't to see Pulock get his chance. I guess we shall see how it plays out now

I was glad Nelson signed and got in on time. Otherwise, we were facing another Bergenheim situation like 06 or 07.

I will be making the trek to Barclays at least once this year. One of my best friends' dad is on the board of the Brooklyn Nets and so Friday night he invited our poker group, which is about 7-10 guys to all go to the Islanders - Rangers game on a Sunday in March. Something to look forward to. I'm assuming it's a suite but maybe not. We'll see.

Need advice/opinions on my long time auction keeper league. We keep 4 guys and the cap is $450.

I am keeping Getzlaf at $27 and Tarasenko (who I won last year at auction) for $47 and G Corey Schneider at $5. Schneider won't win lots but his other stats will be solid and he is minimum salary.

MY last spot comes down to Okposo who I kept last year for $5 bucks or J Schwarz at $39. I am debating about pairing the LW, a thin position in fantasy, Schwarz with Tarasenko and hope they continue to get better together. I can keep them forever at that price. Okposo is the better value as he would likely go for $40 bucks in open market but Schwarz would go for about $55.

I am leaning Okposo.

Thoughts?
