Re: The NHL Thread

This seems like an even dumber post, because Jamie Benn plays left wing.

Idk what happened with all the posting. Taptalk said it didn't go through and now there's just a bunch, sorry everyone.

Regardless that was a really dumb post to make while trying to call out someone else for being dumb.

It was Brohan, so I'm pretty sure I'm in the clear regardless.

Jamie Benn also doesn't munch box. What are your feelings on this, Sarah? ;)

This could be accurate if Jamie Benn was actually a freaking center idiot.

This is also a dumb post.

You can easily argue that Jamie Benn is the best center in the game right now.

That would be true if he was actually a center you idiot

No.

You can't do be a part of the joke.

Actually, you can--do you know why? Cause the Caps are a joke too!

Re: The NHL Thread

Props to the caps. Incredible comeback. Pens didn't give up and came out firing in OT and ended it.

Bring on TB!

You're trying to be a dick, throwing shade to see what sticks and look like a tool doing it. Grow up and stop hiding behind a keyboard

Last post for the night. Took Yzerman 14 season for him to hoist his first Cup. Still plenty of time for Ovechkin to solidify his legacy

Yes there is still plenty of time but Yzerman had been the two conference finals by this point.

Re: The NHL Thread

Tim would probably know this better than anyone, but I'd argue that Yzerman didn't have the supporting cast he needed until 93-94, whereas Ovechkin has had a cast for years.

I saw your tweet and started looking back. He had some ok players in the late 80's with Oates and Klima and Probert but other than that not much. Nothing like the Caps have. Early 90's started getting guys like Fedorov, Kozlov, Primeau.

The biggest thing is Yzerman sure as shit didn't have a Holtby. Hanlon, Greg Stefan, Tim Cheveldae, Bob Essensa, a rookie Osgood were the main guys from the late 80's to mid 90's. I'd put this Caps team around the 95 Wings in terms of depth and stuff but with a better goalie, no offense to Mike Vernon. That Wings team went to the Cup Finals.

Game 4 was the deciding game. No Letang and no Maatta and you don't beat them. Should have been 2-2.

Re: The NHL Thread

Caps got manhandled 5 on 5 last night. If it wasnt for that insane string of penalties it never gets close to OT. Nice to see the Pens keep their heads and rally to take it in OT.

Re: The NHL Thread

Now we're talking about hockey players like basketball players? "Kobe had this, LeBron had that, MJ had everything..." Ovi is not the reason the Caps have choked in the playoffs the last two decades nor is it because he didn't have a cast of players around him. There are 18 skaters responsible for success, not six or seven players. Come on guys.

This. And I also look back to Game 2. The Caps should have momentum coming off an OT winner and Oshie hat trick. But the Pens shore up defensively, and the Caps don't register a shot for the first 15 minutes of the second period.

Despite all that, the Caps threw everything and the kitchen sink at the Pens. They have a great team, and should still be great next year. Though with the current playoff format, we may see a rematch of this series next year.

But for now, I can't wait for Round 3 to start! Bolts are big, fast and feisty. It should be fun to watch. Kucherov scares me.

^ I agree. Ovi is not the problem. He maybe could have been more productive, but credit the Pens defense. Ovi still made some noise.

The flip side to this is you can say the Pens were an OT goal away from sweeping the series.
