Come Tomorrow (the song)

Didn't see a dedicated thread to discuss the song itself (if there is one, I'm sorry - and this probably will be deleted soon).

I really, really like this song on the album. I also think Brandie adds a lot to it. I'm in the minority, I know.

This song resonates with me maybe because I have children who are getting older - but nowhere close to letting them "run the show". Though one day they will have to be ready, and I will have to let them go.

Anybody else actually really dig this one?

Good talk.

Clearly it's just me. Your silence is deafening! :haha:haha:haha

Love it. Second best on the album.

Yeah I’ve totally come around on this song. It’s even better live, and I hope Brandi guests on it at some point (Gorge???)

Still struggling to like this one. Sort of wish it was earlier on the album. Don't like the placement of it at all. Very much enjoy the lyrics and Brandi's vocals, but that' really all that keeps me interested for now.

I said before and I’ll say it again - the last 4 songs on the album should be spots 2-5

Re: Come Tomorrow (the song)

This song has me so torn. I listen to it, I think "I don't really like this" and then I'm singing it in my head all day.

I think "let the children run the show, not too long and we'll be good to go" and "let the children lead the way" are some of the most obnoxiously cheesy cringe-worthy lyrics dave has ever written and i am very lenient and forgiving compared to most on these boards when it comes to his writing in recent years.

But I love the harmony with Brandi. It sounds good in my head, just wish they were singing different words. It could have been truly great if he didn't phone the choruses in here.

Bad song.

Re: Come Tomorrow (the song)

It's okay live and one of my least favorite studio tracks in the catalog. IMO Brandi takes a song that is mediocre at best and shits on it. I do not like her contribution at all. I dont want her to guest at Deer Creek.

The music is good, and I understand what Dave was trying to do lyrically I just dont think he executed it well. Though I do find myself singing it for a while after listening.

the animations on the big screen when they play it live are kind of cool.

The bridge part is fantastic (especially in the studio with Carlisle “storm will rise”). That part is one of my favorite parts on the album actually

Instant skip over.

The least favorite song on the album for me. Everything about it just seems so forced.

Hearing other people like it gives me hope though.

Re: Come Tomorrow (the song)

I'm glad there is a portion of the fanbase that enjoys the song. The lyrics just kind of kill it for me, personally. I agree with the sentiment, I just think that the delivery falls a little flat, and the way in which Dave approaches the topic lyrically is a little too cheesy and on-the-nose.

Edit: Brandi is always great though. Her addition is a welcome one for me.

It's bad. And not in a good way. It just sucks.

Worst song since Dive In?

Re: Come Tomorrow (the song)

It's funny how polarizing most all of these songs are and easy to see why the album as a whole has that effect.

Seeing comments about how awful something is that you love is quite bizarre. As a DMB fan, you'd think I'd be use to it.

Worst song on the album.

One of my favorites on the new album.

Divisive topic though...so some people aren't really listening. But that doesn't mean that you have to like it or dislike based on how you feel about the topic. It's just another song that one can either appreciate or not...

As frustrating as it was to hear it N2 in WPB, I actually found myself liking the song more. It even rattled around in my head the next day. Guess I'm coming around to it. Just really, really wish they could have picked a different song for the encore.

Probably in their bottom 15 songs ever.

Re: Come Tomorrow (the song)

Song is horrible. It'll probably be the next single.

Both nights in WPB? Ouch. And in the encore both nights, that's rough! Funny how they only played Samurai Cop once in WPB and only twice total in the last week. I think Dave finally got sick of it and/or they just made the decision to officially make CT the next single. Look at the setlists--you can literally see Dave switching gears from SC to CT.

I bet they're shooting a video for it this week. It'll be out before the first school shooting of the new school year.

Do you think the band gets a sense that a really large % of their fans find this the worst song on the album? You think that would be considered when choosing the single.

i’ve loved this song since first played live before the album release. still do. can’t fathom the negativity towards it.

Music and lyrics are all bad, IMO. That's why I don't like it.

It's not just bad... it's cheesy as hell. Come Tomorrow makes We Are the World sound like the goddamn Beatles!

Ignorent and or insensitive post re WPB shows. Dave had MSD (Parkland) parents and likely students as well as guests during the N1 show (and possibly N2 as well). Song lyrics speak to children in a leadership role and gun violence. An MSDStrong image appeared as stage backdrop in between main set and backdrop N1 (not sure if it was there N2). I initially was very critical that CT was played both nights in an E slot.....until all of this occurred to me. Now I accept, appreciate and respect the song selection.....both nights and likely at all future shows.

That was a little strange. That said, my buddy and I only attended N2 and he was dying to hear this tune so I was very happy that Dave played it.

Fair enough. I didn't know about the backdrop/guests.. only had the Sirius radio broadcast to go off of.

It's still a shitty song, but at least I understand why they played it at both shows now.
