GOD DAMNIT I WANT TO CHANGE MY AVATAR.

Kings and Flyers game went the way I wanted to last night. But now for the game that really matters (to me). Getting nervous!

I love the fact that I get CBC so I can watch good people do the game rather than most of the guys on NBC. Go Sens! and by Sens I mean Paul MacLean.

In all fairness Zetterberg crumpled WWF style too. It was a dirty hit but the hits wasn't that hard. Suspend him a game for intent and be done with it.

If that was anyone in Vancouver that bashed someone's head into the boards everyone in this thread would be calling for a crazy suspension. But because its Shea Weber and the Preds I think most really aren't that outraged by it. Media and fans alike.

I'm fine with a game. I would be really. I understand the thought of it's the playoffs and they won't do much. But you can't not do something because then I think that sends a message that it's ok to do this.

But I couldn't believe it. Watched the first and thought this could get REAL ugly. But gotta give credit to the Flyers for not giving up. They did what they couldn't do in 09 by getting at least a split.

They just stopped playing their game after the first. Totally quit doing what was working. They basically went into a shell. As torts says, safe is death.

Where is Matty, what an atrocity. Ray Bourque must have killed himself when this happened.

Bourque egged Carter's house as soon as he found out.

Yeah, he walked right into that one. Ugh, that game was a disaster in periods 2, 3 and the OT. Not good. Couldn't kill off the ONLY power play the Flyers had or, heaven forbid, score a power play goal.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Uh oh. Here comes the unbiased, team-didn't-even-make-the-playoffs-but-are-golfing-with-the-wives-of-the-Flyers commentary.

Everyone here knows of my man-crush on Shea Weber (ahem, avatar). He is the best all-around defenseman in the game. He is not by nature a dirty player. By all accounts he's a good dude and captain of his team

However, having said all that, it was an extremely dirty, undisciplined, irresponsible play. Final seconds of a game you're going to win, with all the pressure of being the best player on a team that's expected to make some noise this year, and to top it off being the captain of the team? You just can't do that. I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Sure, Zetterberg came in with his elbow high and all that, but it doesn't matter. Not one bit. Weber is completely responsible for this one and he should get at least a game.

Now let me backpedal a bit. Weber - as I've said and who anyone who's watched him consistently can attest to - is not a dirty player. But he did do a dirty thing. Anyone who's played or been around the game long enough knows that happens. You lose your cool, you do something stupid. That doesn't excuse what he did in ANY way, but I think it's important to keep Shea Weber as a whole in perspective. He's 26, still has a lot of growing up to do. I wouldn't be surprised if he feels like a complete idiot right now. And he should.

It will be interesting to see how the Wings respond, but don't be surprised if Babcock tells them to let it go. First of all, there's no team in the league with a cooler head on their shoulders than the Wings... their way of getting back at you is on the scoresheet. Next, and I believe Tim alluded to this already, who's going to take on a guy like Weber? Abdelkader? That would teach 'em! Gentle giant Ericsson? Hmmm.... Maybe Bertuzzi could jump him from behind?

(Sorry, that last one was below the belt... old grudges die hard.)

I'm all for the code and making guys answer the bell, but I think the best the Wings could do in this case is go out next game and go into their famous 5th gear and just destroy the Predators as Weber watches from the press box (if suspended - which I think he will be). Make Weber feel even worse.

That being said, go Preds!

Let's go Rangers tonight!! Will need to come out quick and score some early goals. NY needs to prove they are the real deal as a 1 seed and never give Ottawa any hope.

Nervous, but excited for tonight! Also, shaving for hopefully the last time until June!!

So after 1 period, not even, back from being hurt Helm is done for the rest of the year. Lacerated tendons from the skate to the forearm last night. Shit that has to hurt. That hurts big time.

Do you have a still frame of the blown icing call the Pens scored on? Both were missed calls that resulted in goals so they evened out in the end.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Wouldn't have mattered if Pittsburgh had been able to stop all the OTHER goals Philly scored. Especially the Voracek goal. I put that one on Letang. What the hell was he doing on Martin's side of the ice? That's defense 101... you divide the ice in half, with the centerman offering support where needed. Granted, Staal should've had his head on a swivel, but that's Letang's responsibility in the first place.

:lol wut?

CBC people blow. It's just un-watchable when a Canadian team is playing. Good lord, the Canuck fluffing last night was ridiculous. But even they had to admit that Henrik's little dive in the 1st was bullshit.

Doc, Eddie, and Pierre is really fine with me. Brian Engblom is alright, too. I don't mind them at all really. Pierre is a weird little dude but I much prefer the NBC crew to CBC's blatant homerism.

Honestly...

But he and Richards were clutch last night? Richards was one of the best players on the ice, and did you see Carter's nifty little deflection off the skate to the open man to set up the game-winning goal? That was a beautiful play.

As opposed to NBC Crosby blowing? Tonight is a game between the Rangers and Sens and I bet Crosby is brought up plenty of times during the broadcast.

Jim Hughson is a homer no doubt but Bob Cole is the man even if he's getting older. And he's probably the guy doing the game tonight. Plus CBC's production value is 1000x better than NBC. They try to dumb the broadcast down to the lowest common denominator. Don Cherry has become an ass but I ignore him.

Doc is great but Eddie has to throw out active stick and the boards at The Joe on a nightly basis, like it's product placement or something. And Pierre will throw out his needless commentary a lot. Like if a puck crossing the line was in dispute and Doc and Eddie already said it was in he'll just so "Oh yeah that was in for sure." Thanks Pierre as if the video along with two other guys saying it wasn't enough.

They didn't even really fluff Crosby all that much last night even though he had 2 points.

How many of these commentators are really good? Not that many. Doc has one of the best voices in the game (even if he misses some names occasionally).

Can't stand NBC when Darren Pang is announcing though. "Holy jumpin" is he a fucking blow hole.

Shannahan with a huge swing and a miss on that one. It's an absolute joke that he wasn't suspended.

I guess that sets the standard for suspensions in the playoffs. Outside of killing someone you're only going to be fined.
