Please stay in 6th

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Here is what I want, in order:

6th against the Stars
6th against the Sharks
4th against the Wings
6th against the Kings
5th against the Wings
4th against the Preds
5th against the Preds

I just do not want to play the Preds, and I'm also assuming Phoenix doesn't win the division. And I also do not want 5th.

But whatever it is, bring it the fuck on. So excited.

After tonight, I want 4th. We can take the Wild twice, then see where the chips fall against the Wings on the last game of the season (again).

Loved Kane's goal tonight. Speed, energy, blasted it right through Rinne's legs.

Shut up, and sit down.

Yeah, at this point it looks like it was an over-reaction. Certainly. Still think this team has underperformed. Yes there have been some injuries. BUT.....Hawks shouldn't have let Nashville back into this game.

They've allowed so, so many shots to get through from the point this year, and again 3 more tonight. The problem I have with Q's "sticks in lanes" system showed up on all four goals. If you are going to allow guys to set up shop in front of your goaltender (which is pretty tough to prevent without drawing interference penalties all night) and you aren't going to get out to challenge the shooters, eventually pucks are going to find their way through, and there's nothing the goaltender can do but hope it hits him. And then on Radulov's goal, Seabrook & SOD don't think to try to take the body....instead they just put their sticks out feebly.

BUT, the Hawks have played very good hockey lately. Coming together without Toews & Keith is huge and it's really encouraging. They have limited opposing teams' chances, and making smart decisions with the puck. Crawford made a handful of outstanding stops tonight. Sharp & Stalberg look to be peaking at right time. Love seeing Bolland pot one.

4th is fine. But if you miss out on 4th and draw Nashville in 1st round, Hawks could be in for a world of trouble. Like you said, Radulov is a beast. That guy is immediately their best offensive player and he looked really good tonight. They have a ton of depth, a great G, 2 of the best d-men in NHL, and some serious drive. It was on display tonight. But I certainly don't want to see them just throw away rest of games. Would much rather see them pass 100 pts again this year and get home ice.

Can someone explain to me why Pittsburgh is in 4th place considering their win, loss and point standing? Is this a typo? I'm a Bruins fan, but am I missing something with these standings?

It's right. They have 102 and can't jump the 1, 2, or 3 without leading the division.

The first 3 spots are for the division winners, then after that you start piling in everyone else by their point totals.

This. Pittsburgh and Philly are both ahead of Boston and Florida points-wise. But the reward for winning the division is one of the top 3 seeds.

Another reason IMO why realignment would be nice. Though there are pros and cons with both.

I'm against the realignment if it means four conferences. I would be for it if it kept the east and west intact.
