Subban has 4 goals and 10 assists, he piss poor defenseman, a decent passer and an average shooter from the point. So may guys more deserving of being ranked higher. What damn planet am I living on with nonsense like this?

I don't understand what you're trying to say here.

Are you stating that PK Subban is not a better fantasy player than the four Hawks you mentioned?

Because he is.

He's certainly better than Keith. He's got a lower plus/minus, more goals than Keith, and they're tied with 10 assists.

I'm on record as saying Subban is one of the most overrated defensemen in the game (in terms of, y'know, actually playing defense), and I stand by it.

That said, he's a fantasy performer for sure.

While I cannot speak on the fantasy part because I do not know how that works I agree completely on his defense being over-rated. No way is is shutting down any top line guys without taking penalties, he just is not that great at playing defense.

I don’t know if anyone else remembers Stephen Peat, but this offers yet another look into the truly awful real life consequences of sports related concussions. How in the world can the NHL not do anything to help? This is really sad. I had no idea about this.

I do remember Peat, and am saddened that we haven't seen more outreach by the NHL.

They'll have a better shot tonight against the Wings. Although Wings haven't played since Sunday.

edit: But no I don't want to fuck you.

No, no they won't. They'll probably give up a half dozen again.

I have only watched say 6 Oilers games so far and while they do not look bad their drive seems to be a bit lacking. Is this perhaps an early season stumble after a solid postseason last year or do you think it is something deeper like maybe slumps for your key guys who were amazing last season.

Ondrej Palat needs a beat down, he is a dirty ass player! Next time the Hawks play Tampa I hope someone checks him so hard he is done for the game.

Don’t look know, but Nail Yakupov has 7 goals for the Avs. He’s not their best player, but he’s been consistent. When he’s not scoring, he’s working hard. Needs to calm his game down a bit, but at least he wants it. It’s amazing the decreased amount of pressure when you have zero expectations placed on you, playing for a team that nobody expects to do anything either.

Vegas is about to become the greatest franchise ever again very soon, apparently. Fleury is supposed to be coming back in a game or two.

I saw something on Facebook (I think) that said Flyers escape NY with a point. Hooray for celebrating losing!

:lol

The irony there is that almost every time I hear trumps voice or read one of his tweets I cringe. I am no fan of trump at all, I wrote in Mickey Mantle last election - yeah I know he has been dead for over 20 years but I was convinced a corpse could do a better job than trump or hillary!

Uh oh - we are both happy man. Your Caps are on a roll and my Hawks are figuring out how to score and getting contributions from all 4 lines - notably the 1st last night with Toews netting one and providing 2 helpers and Saad netting one and getting an assist. Kane made one of those plays that just make you go WOW- he stuck with the puck, drew a crowd, moved to the middle and fired it right over Luongo's shoulder. Crawford too is on a roll, most underappreciated goalie in the game IMO.

Biggest surprise thus far this season?

My vote goes to the Devils. Currently in 1st in the met. I’d probably say Vegas is just as big a surprise.

What surprises me the most is how sluggish the WC looks in comparison to the EC. I know anything can happen in hockey but the EC just looks like the teams have more drive and jump in their step than the WC teams - STL being the one exception.

Having just watched the Hawks face off against 8 straight EC teams (3 home games and 5 away) I am pretty happy with a 4 and 4 split (plus s point the for OT loss against TB) but also impressed with the EC teams. Yeah, the Carolina game was a bit of a laugher and we should have beat Montreal who can rarely buy a goal these days but the rest have been against solid opponents who will likely make the playoffs - TB, PHI, PIT, NYR and NJ. Hoping that short road trip will get this team turned around - taking TB to OT then walking all over the Panthers should carry some momentum into tonight's home game against Anahein's banged up team.

I would be very surprised if Philly made the playoffs. They are the only team in the MET to have a below .500 record. They are also the only team that has not won their most recent game. Most teams in the MET are trending up over their past 10 games. Philly is not.

They are certainly in a tough division but I do not think we have seen their best hockey yet. Injuries, suspensions and general blunders have cost them some points and I expect Hakstol will be addressing those issues to get them on track. Maybe they won't make the dance but I expect they could easily play spoiler for any number of opponents.
