Also loved that MAF kept the first puck he ever stopped from Mario in practice.

Oh hey Greg.

So, how early are our teams getting bounced next year? Round 1 for you and round 2 for me??

Apparently there was a deal that included Hamonic and a 1st for Duchene.

And Sakic (obviously) turned it down.

This is my life.

The one negative (only one) of getting that generational player is the salary. McDavid is reportedly going to get 8 years at 13.25mil per. Would still love to have him or Matthews but wow.

Cant really compare the 2. Still the same % of the cap as what Crosby's was in what 07 or 08 when he signed 2nd. Crosby would have gotten the same had the cap been 75 mil back then. Oilers are more fucked if the cap stays stagnant. Pens benefited from the cap going up every year.

You sure?

Sid signed his extension deal in 2012, took effect in 13-14 season.

He won't take his full value, not unless he doesn't want to win a Cup any time soon.

Was talking about it being the same % of the cap.

Id just like to see the numbers broken down because I dont know what the cap was then.

I'm talking his 2nd deal which started in 08-09 and was 8.7mil and signed in the summer of 07 so of the then 50.7 mil cap was 17% of it. So if the cap was 25mil higher back then, Sid probably was gonna make 13mil too.

I'm hoping we get some big movement on Saturday. Even though some are older, at least it could be fun. Would be weird to see Thornton and Marleau with different teams.

Re: The NHL Thread (Penns are garage league champs)

Lots of Thornton talk around here but I really dont want him.

Also trade rumors of some bigger deal centered Maatta and Duchene popped up today... but it makes no sense for the Pens to deal a defensemen for a center.

Saw that Duchesne thing earlier. Really think they'd do that?

Some rumors around here is Wings in on Daley or Hainsey. Daley I get, although his term might be bigger in a bidding war. Hainsey doesn't make this team better at all. I get it as depth because the Wings D in the minors are all pretty young but...no. lol

With how weak the D core is right now I really really doubt it.

They do need to get a 3rd line C signed but dealing one of your top 4 D isnt a smart idea.

Lots of fans are down on Maatta here but I dont get the sense that the team is as much.

Dumoulin is a big priority to me, they need to hammer a deal out to keep him long term, love what he brings.

He's amazingly young still. I can't imagine they'd give up on that now.

Re: The NHL Thread (Penns are garage league champs)

Off the top of your head, rank the teams in the NHL in order of how close you think they are to winning a Stanley Cup. So #1 would be a team you think can win it next season and #31 would be a team you think may never win it.

1. Pittsburgh
2. Nashville
3. St. Louis
4. Anaheim
5. Minnesota
6. Edmonton
7. Tampa Bay
8. Chicago
9. NY Rangers
10. San Jose
11. Washington
12. Toronto
13. Ottawa
14. Boston
15. Montreal
16. LA Kings
17. Columbus
18. Winnipeg
19. Calgary
20. Dallas
21. New Jersey
22. New York Islanders
23. Phoenix
24. Florida
25. Vancouver
26. Detroit
27. Philadelphia
28. Buffalo
29. Carolina
30. Colorado
31. Las Vegas

Again, this was off the top of my head and no real thought put into it. I am sure if I took a longer look at this list I would re-rank a few.
