Why would you rather have staal? Toews is much better offensively and defensively they're a wash.

Why would anyone put Toews on the 3rd line? :lol

because he is isnt as good as crosby or malkin. so where else would you put him?

and if only Erik Johnson would have been on any other team where he could have be the #1 instead of Barrett Jackman or Eric Brewer we would probably be talking about the next Lidstrom!!

Toews would be the 3rd line center on the pens unless they moved malkin to the wing.

Christ. And we're the homers?

I forget, who was the best forward of the Olympics for team Canada?

None of this matters anyways, because Giroux>> toews.

I'll take crosby and malkin over toews.

Staal is way better defensively.

You could ARGUE that Toews is a top 5 player in the league, and if he stays at the rate he is at it won't be an argument.

However, this statement is idiotic.

Muskie you are making mdrums level homer arguments right now.

Edit: Fuck it, this argument is going nowhere.

Pretty good hockey game between Buffalo and Philly. Good stuff.

:lol :lol we're really using the olympics as our argument?

He had one goal and seven assists, Crosby had four goals and three assists, including the golden goal.

Give me a break. They are probably about even.

And Toews wins 10-15% more faceoffs. That's huge for generating chances in the offensive zone and getting the puck out of your own zone.

Toews might be the 3rd line C on the Pens, but pretty rarely since Malkin and Crosby aren't often healthy at the same time anyway.

I wouldn't even say that. The guy will win the Selke at this rate, and was a finalist last year. Staal is good, but c'mon the way he is being hyped up in here is making him look bad.

Actually I've played and watched hockey my whole life.

Although I did read that statement wrong as I guess you were referring to putting Toews on the Pens and Staal on the Hawks. This still isn't even a debate though, I take Toews over Staal 100 times out of 100 and I'd say 95% of the GM's in the league would.

Why, he must be the chosen one.

and we're not talking about Crosby. In fact, I think the correct statement was "Toews could be getting to Crosby levels." No one seriously stated that Toews is as good as Crosby.

Staal however, is nowhere near Toews. That's so dumb.

.

he was referring to my post that toews would be behind crosby and malkin.

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Giroux with the breakaway OT winner. Leading the league in points. Hell of a game, great finish.

Buffalo is disappointing to me. I've seen a handful of their games and every time their new guys look terrible. Leino and Ehrhoff are just totally invisible. I was never really impressed with Ehrhoff's soft game when he was with Van, but their offseason acquisitions don't seem to be working out so well.

I most definitely think you could argue that. I bet if there was a league wide draft to start new teams, Crosby would go #1 and I bet you there are many GMs that would pick Toews #2 because of his leadership, desire to win, and outstanding 2-way play.
