Wow. No need to kick Matty while he's down already thinking he's failed at life....

What a lineup both of those teams had though. Particularly the Wings.

Classic Gary and Bill. Really miss Gary being a part of national broadcasts. Like Doc a lot of course. Wish we could have em both.

And dammit, bring back white jerseys for the home team.

That was a fun year. What a great series that was. I liked game 7 of course, but the other 6 games were so much fun.

I wish they'd NBCSN could get Gary. Him, Strader and Doc as the top 3. Sadly Albert has kinda become the #2. Or at least he was in the playoffs. I think Strader was doing international broadcasts. Maybe Gary likes doing baseball now and a more set schedule.

I personally like the dark shirts at home.

I understand that hockey exists outside of my market.

I think this sets the market for the Johansen deal.
Should see that one done by the end of the week.

About what I was expecting. I hope they can hold on to ROR past these two years, but contracts have now been an issue twice for him in his short career. Despite all that, he's one of the hardest working guys on the team and still one of my favorite players. Crazy though to think that his AAV is higher than Landeskog's and equal to Duchene's.

Avs are in a pretty good spot regardless. They may have to make some moves in order to sign Barrie, but not much. They've still got a bit of space and Barrie will probably command around $3 million/year after the breakout he had last season. Everyone else is locked up pretty long term, and when it comes time to re-sign MacKinnon, guys like Briere, Tanguay, and Hejda (about $10 mil in space combined) will be off the books. Still don't love the $5.3 AAV for Iginla, but everything else has been managed pretty well. If Iggy comes in and provides what they brought him in to do (goals and leadership training for the kids), I'll say it's worth it.

Hope he's not a huge pain in the ass as ROR has been.

The contract talks is what makes me think he'll be gone. That can create tension among everyone. You think he feels he wants to be the main guy and get paid that way? Fedorov was like that. I think he wanted to be the big gun but was always in the shadow of Stevie and then was one part of a very good team when they had Hull, Shanny and the rest. He gave it his all on the ice though when he was here, but wanted to be the #1 star.

Exactly. Like I said, it's troubling that this has already happened twice.

He's said he's pretty hands off in negotiations and leaves most of this to his agent. So if that's true, you're letting your agent make you look kind of like a bitch, ROR.

BUF makes another underrated signing picking up Andre Benoit for $800K. Had a good year with the Avs last season. His role diminished with the emergence of Barrie, but he should do well on a team like BUF.

So 29/30 instead of 30/30?
