Seems backwards to me. Pens/Jackets intrigues me because the Jackets have "pain in the ass for a top seed" written all over them. Tampa/Montreal should be a 7 game series and I expect it to be good.

That's what I was thinking. Yeah McDavid is the one everyone wants but most likely you'll be better so won't be close to being able to draft him anyways. You can have #5 now or even if you're in the lottery you're likely 12-14.

I'm with you. Not that it won't be good, but it's probably the series I care the least about. I'm very intrigued by the Jackets/Pens series, as I feel that if any upset could happen, it could happen there. I also feel that way about the Avs/Wild series... but I am prone to attempting to shield myself from disappointment by automatically assuming the Avs are going to blow it when something good happens. This despite the fact that they've proven me wrong multiple times this season.

If anything, probably better since the East isn't nearly as deep as the West. Head to head the Ducks clearly have more skill, but that West is just a freaking beast.

As much as I like Getzlaf, I just don't see it happening. As you said, the West is a monster, and although one team has to come out of it, I just don't see it being Anaheim. Only having to play one of the Sharks/Kings will help, but I think the winner of that series beats the Ducks.

I've been wrong before, though. In fact, I usually am with predictions.

Bummer.

Jan Hejda got hurt in the FINAL game of the season and is questionable for tomorrow. That guy, along with Johnson on the top pairing, have been incredible for us this year. At least Tyson Barrie is back.

it just depends on the situation.

my dad grew up in buffalo as a bills and yankees fan, the sabres didn't exsit yet. he raised me a bills and yankees fan, i just watched the NHL as a fan of hockey and rooted for the sabres since my connection with the bills and having lived in buffalo for a few summers when i was a kid.

when i moved to columbus 6 years ago i started going to a ton of blue jackets games, just to watch hockey in person, and really started to root for the team. i'll always root for the sabres too, but not over CBJ at this point.

i'd never switch my allegiance fromt he yanks or bills to the ohio teams though, that was engrained in me from birth.

my dad grew up in buffalo as a bills and yankees fan, the sabres didn't exsit yet. he raised me a bills and yankees fan, i just watched the NHL as a fan of hockey and rooted for the sabres since my connection with the bills and having lived in buffalo for a few summers when i was a kid.

when i moved to columbus 6 years ago i started going to a ton of blue jackets games, just to watch hockey in person, and really started to root for the team. i'll always root for the sabres too, but not over CBJ at this point.

i'd never switch my allegiance fromt he yanks or bills to the ohio teams though, that was engrained in me from birth.

Atleast you have a couple home games to go to right?

See, convos that go like this are precisely why I love this thread and its posters. :thumbsup

For my 7,000th post, I think it's only fitting to hand out some first-ever annual Ants end of season awards. Lots of great nominees, but there can only be one recipient for each.

Calder: Rebecca de Mornay. Has made brief appearances in the past, but really had a strong rookie year showing this season.

Norris: Swordo. His team fell short of expectations, but Swordo was always back there, steadily defending to the end.

Vezina: ~crashintome89. Witty, clever posts stabilized the thread throughout the season and helped foster a consistent, light atmosphere.

Byng: Kev87Lads. Just a sweet guy.

Selke: Barbogast. Was frequently called upon to defend his ailing club, and did so with just the right mixture of honesty and pride

Adams: Lockman21. His knowledge of the game in general kept us on an even keel. Chris was also a strong Norris candidate due to his switch to D this year, something that has made me eternally proud of him.

Hart: TMoore. Lead the thread in posts for the year and was consistently great in all aspects of the game.

Great regular season, guys.

Very nice 7000th post. Can't wait for tonight. Need the old tv's that have picture and picture. I remember my roommate freshman year in college had a tv that did that. Wings on one channel and one of the other games in the small frame. Best time of the year.

I'm in the middle of a bathroom remodel that I'm just trying to get done, so I'll be turning up the TV really loud so I can hear it while I work in there. My wife just laughs as I come running out of the bathroom and down the hall to the living room every 5 minutes when I hear Doc start to get excited. :lol

Doc gets excited a lot more often than there are goals so that probably impedes your progress quite a bit.

Actually, Tim gets the Art Ross trophy but Matty gets Hart.

Also, nice backhanded compliment. Giving a Flyers fan the Vezina? Eff you, Matty boy.

Well when you add up all the goalies they've had over the years....

Yeah, I probably could have had it done last week if it weren't for hockey. :lol I did end up getting some brown paint on our white ceiling after getting pissed when I heard the Sharks score on the Avs last week.

It'll probably change throughout. The Wings had 3 different teams working the Ducks series last year. I only know Strader by name but they also had the Lightning and Canes play by play guys a few games. I'd guess Doc would be doing the Pens/Jackets, Wings/Bruins or Hawks/Blues primarily though since he lives here in MI. Doubt he goes West too much.

I love this post. I've realized recently that I don't even post in any other threads on this site anymore. This is the one holy place on Ants. Great avatar switch, by the way

Also seeing all these playoff commercials and montages and stuff is making me kinda sad, and very jealous. Good luck everyone, unless you root for the Flyers or Penguins. Then I hope you lose mercilessly :hug

Totally :thumbsup It's a tribute to the regular posters here. I think we've done a good job of fostering a pretty cool culture here. It's kinda just like a hockey locker room, actually... a lot of bullshitting and ribbing, but all good-natured.

Sorry John, only so many trophies to hand out. If it makes you feel any better, I didn't get one either.

But you hands down get the Hockey Writer of the Year award. Don't know what the name is, so let's call it The Roose trophy.
