That is certainly the current trend in the NHL, and I think he's reasonably ready. However, I think it would be cool to see St. Louis get it for a year or two.

EDIT: of course, with the way St. Louis is playing, he might still be around for another 4 years!

You know with Vinny being bought out I thought...maybe the Hawks could actually think about it. Puts that one to rest.

Good Lord... just let this Phoenix thing end. It hasn't worked, it isn't working, and it's not going to work. I'm all for expansion and introducing hockey to non-hockey markets (i.e., Nashville), but the Phoenix experiment has proven time and time again that it's not a good fit. Get them out of there.

If board of governors don't pull the plug today and then the vote fails on Tuesday it would just be another wtf moment for this whole thing.

If there were signs of the team doing ok, ie Nashville and Tampa, then fine but there hasn't been any signs of hope and the fact it's taken 4 years to even get to here is sad. It's embarassing to watch games in Phoenix. I mean it's like watching a neutral site game when you see the big teams come into town.

No, I don't think it's that.

I think it's a combination of things. He is paid as a 2nd line center, has been expected to grow into that 2C role, and just hasn't quite ever done it. So I think they are (this is my hope) just testing the waters to see what kind of return he would fetch. I think it's posturing, not necessarily a real intention to trade him. Bolly isn't just a perfect fit at his position on a team short on centers, but he's also an incredible locker room guy with this group, which I think is a HUGE thing not talked about with why the Hawks succeeded this year and not in the past 2 years. It took a while to replace the character of the locker room with guys with huge personalities like Big Buff, Versteeg, Burish, etc. Bolland is a huge glue into the personality of the Blackhawks.

Only other route I can see other than just testing the waters, is that Bowman has another move up his sleeve to get a legit 2C. The team is just so short on legit centers that Bolland simply can't move unless there's a follow up plan. Bowman isn't dumb enough to think Pirri, Shaw, and Kruger are enough to make another Cup run. So unless there's a legit 2C in the works and Bowman just wants to clear up cap space, I don't see this happening.

Oh that does make sense. If nothing from the BOG today then July 2nd we'll know for sure. I think it gets done for them to stay, I hate to say it. There is an out-cause that lets them pull the plug if they lose $50mil or more over 5 years. Good chance that happens and then we're moving them anyways....

i love Dave Bolland, he'll always have a place in my heart.

However, this makes perfect sense. he is paid like a 2C who was playing on the 4th line in the playoffs. The cap is tight, and I would much rather resign Kruger and Leddy comfortably than keep Bolland around, if that was my choice.

Vinny would be a great addition to the Leafs. They could buy out Grabo and not sign back Bozak and boom. Problems solved. They would then spend all of their money bolstering that D group. Oh Man what a deal.

I'd give vinny a two year 5 million dollar deal. Then he can go finish his career in Tampa.

He actually got hired a bit ago by the Avs as a "Defensive Development Coordinator" or some other made up position meant to give an alumnus a job. :)
Definitely couldn't hurt having a warrior like him mentoring these kids.

So that would make Tanguay the fourth Av from the 2001 team to re-join the team this year. I'm ok with the pick up... He's been around the block a few times, and I'm constantly complaining about the Avs needing more forward vets with experience. He should help rather than hinder. I can't tell you how happy I am to have unloaded Jones. Silly Feaster.

I'm also encouraged by the Sarich pick up. He's a Foote-ish player who will slide into O'brien's spot on the last pairing nicely. He's a bit older, but he's stable, something their blue line obviously needs.

Now I'm just waiting for them to announce their signings of Jon Klemm and Podes.

All I can do is keep tipping my hat to them, a classy organization who plays the game the right way and fought hard to win it all. If we had to lose I'm glad it was to them honestly.

Exactly how I felt in 2010. It's a shame a majority of the Flyers fanbase doesn't see it that way though.

Mock draft up on TCL Flyers today by a pair of my writers: http://flyers.thecheckingline.com/bl...eur-mock-draft

There are a lot of names on there I'd like to see drafted by Philly including Darnell Nurse, Nikita Zadorov, Rasmus Ristolainen, or if they go forward, Max Domi. I want them picking a blueliner though.

Also wanna see Barkov, Shinkaruk and the goalie, Fucale, when they crack the NHL rosters.

Is the 2003 draft class the best in the past 25 years?

I snuck into the hawks post-parade party at a hotel downtown. I'll try to post some pics

There was a guy at the parade with the sign "Best 17 seconds of my life"

I bet his high school gf is pissed.

My second favorite pick is the potential for the Preds to take Seth Jones (sorry Matty).

From what I've read of the players I'm a big fan of Barkov. He is exactly what the Leafs need. I would love it if he was available at 3 or 4 and they moved up to get him.

He's big, highly skilled, defensively aware, is a winner, and is physical. Everything you want in potential number one center.

can't believe that. Hawks better inquire, but they won't pull the trigger if they could because they don't do shit like that.

and who would complain about what the Hawks do?

muwahahahaha

That's my cousin, and yeah he totally did. It makes him look even more drunk. There's a few pics of us with Rocky but that is purposely the one I'm showing.

Still didn't answer the sister question. How did you get into the party?

bonzo48280 06-29-2013 02:29 PM

I told the guy guarding the door I had to go inside to pick up my credentials, which I didn't have. I just walked right in.

Kind of shocked by this, great playoff performer but at least I don't have to hit my head against the wall when he coasts half the season lol. Nasty Nate will be missed though, Montreal game 7 was amazing.

I hope we sign a legit 35-goal scorer this offseason.

That'll be tough considering the B's don't have much space, and theres not many of those types of guys on the market.

HallowBillies7 06-29-2013 02:59 PM

Just got this sent to me from a friend, if true it's interesting to say the least

Lyndon Byers via FB:

Rumors swirling on the draft floor that one of the reasons Seguin is on the chopping block stems from his partying and his extra circular activities and they feel this may be a concerned why he didn't produce during the playoffs..doesn't seem to be fitting in with the code of conduct becoming of a Bs player

bonzo48280 06-29-2013 03:34 PM

Seguin will be the example for all those idiots who said we should have traded Kane.

HallowBillies7 06-29-2013 06:10 PM

Canucks interested in trading Schneider if Luongo can't be moved? Lol Nucks
