In all seriousness, how do you lose to the Canes? They had played well the last few games, even in the losses.

It was just a shitty game.
Jackets outplayed them all night, couldn't get one in.
Canes got a few odd man rushes, burried every chance.

@Montreal than vs. Rangers back-to-back Thursday/Friday - Rangers don't play until that game - could be very ugly by Saturday. Such a shame.

Just saw the Gerbe goal. First, wanna say he looks like a child out there because of how short he is. Second, that was a hell of a shot. He picked that spot perfectly.

Wings have it tough themselves like I said the other day. Pens tomorrow, and Wild twice this weekend. Then Jackets Tuesday and Habs Thursday. This week with 8 points up for grabs, I thought they needed to get at least 5 to stay alive. They've got 2 with 4 more coming up. I just want them to get into the playoffs to keep the streak alive, after that if they get swept, whatever. Their future is looking bright. A crap ton of cap space next year and these kids look good so maybe they can find a way to help out the D.

@BuffNewsVogl:
Ville Leino has gone without a shot in 27 of his 50 games. He has 5 hours, 50 minutes, 57 seconds of ice time in those shotless games.

He's been worth that money huh?

Saw that posted, just hadn't watched it yet. Watching the kid breakdown like that pulled at my heart.

Least favorite: Tough... probably McGinn
Up and coming: Has to be MacKinnon, if you can even still consider him such.

Last night did not go well... Avs got Vanek'd big time. One note: Jiggy has not looked great in this or his last couple starts going all the way back to the one loss we had against CHI this year. He's had the attitude of an absolute saint the past couple years, an incredibly supportive teammate and the consumate veteran presence... but I think he's done. The writing was on the wall when the Avs picked up Berra at the trade deadline, and Jiggy is smart enough to know that. I'm guessing he retires at season's end.

Yeah... it could happen, but I agree that Reimer appears to not be incredibly fond of the 1a/1b sitch. You could even tell from 24/7 reading between the lines of things he said. I don't remember a ton from those episodes, but I do remember thinking that. Somewhere he could get a starting job (hard to come by in today's NHL) like NYI will appeal to him.

The Island could be a good place. I didn't think about that.

Favorite: Orpik. Past his prime, but I'll always have a soft spot for him.
Least: If you asked me last year, Tyler Kennedy. Now? Probably a tie between Tanner Glass and Derek Engelland. Why they seemingly play, no matter what, night in and night out, I'll never know. Bylsma has a hard on for teh gritz. Also, Glass somehow makes $1.1 mil a year to turnover the puck and hit guys.

EDIT: Up and comer: Maatta by a mile. This guy is gonna be a big deal.

tanner glass has had a pretty good year actually, he's the best penalty killer on the best PK unit in the league

engelland has been put in awful situations by bylsma, he's handled it well all things considered

favorite: Orpik, always has been...honorable mention to niskanen, he made himself some $$ this year

least: brandon sutter...i know he's played with, what, 15 different wingers? but he's been nothing but sub-par since the staal trade, including this year

up & comer: yea, easily maata, he's the real deal...honorable mention to robert bortuzzo...he brings it every night, he's still very raw but i see him growing into a top 4 on the future blue line...grit, size, tenacity :thumbsup

Olli Maatta should be a Flyer. But hey, Scott Laughton is the 7th center on the Flyers depth chart and in juniors so they don't need a puck-moving, incredibly gifted young defenseman who plays like fucking Kris Letang.

Seriously, Maatta was a player a lot of actual smart Flyers fans (everyone else jizzed when Laughton said he idolized Mike Richards) wanted them to draft. Him or goalie Malcolm Subban, who went to Boston and is sadly never going to see the ice there haha.

You have to think any goalie looking for a job next season is taking a good look at the island.

To be fair, Maatta is probably the best draft pick Shero has ever made (not counting Staal). Generally speaking, his drafting abilities and track record, especially with forwards, is pretty bad.

It really is a miracle though that Maata was passed up by so many teams in the draft. I want to say he was predicted to go as early as the 11th pick.

Helm's concussion can't be put on them, or Ericsson broken finger, or Abby's lacerated leg, or Jurco's rib, or Anderson's foot. The only ones I saw actually happen was Jurco's rib and Anderson's foot and the staff can't stop a guy from crosschecking a player in the ribs or the way a puck happens to hit your foot. That's just bad luck. Guys not getting back is another thing. Weiss and Pavel would be the ones you question there. But they've sent them both for multiple opinions so it's not just the trainers and team doctors. So I dunno. Zetterberg has had back issues for a while and as someone who has had them, not nearly as bad though, once you have them, you always have them to an extent. Maybe Hank should have had surgery earlier, but he was playing well so missing him earlier or missing him now, I'm not sure what's worse. Probably pretty even. Pavel's is the most straight forward. He shouldn't have played at Sochi. Those weeks, then a week or so after the season started up again, he is probably playing now. But I can't fault him for wanting to play in his home country as captain.

I love Toews and appreciate the Blackhawks--but this .gif pretty much sums up how much the Flyers are rolling right now in confidence:
