Philly has too much work to get done with their cap issues. Easier to mold a young team with no cap issues. I said like a week ago, Detroit, Pitt or Sabres would be the 3 teams I see.

Flyers have no core?

Giroux, Voracek (25), Simmonds (25), Mason (25)

coming through the pipeline: Morin, Ghost, Sanheim

Yes, they have no core.

Whoops, and I forgot Sean Couturier. And Brayden Schenn.

I just think Pegula is the biggest difference, he'll give him a blank check and as much control as he wants.

Hey there! How did you see the call?

We were talking about this a bit yesterday, so sorry for repeating myself. I think it warranted more than minor (obviously), but wasn't quite suspension-worthy. It was reckless, away from the puck, and not even close to a hockey play. I would've given him a major, which in NHL rules means an automatic game misconduct when it's slashing. In USA Hockey, unless I'm mistaken, it's only a game if the other player injured. So, I suppose I would've had to give thekid a game if it was one I was reffing here as well. But I don't think it warranted supplemental discipline. Plenty disagree with me though.

:thumbsup CBJ is in great shape, as long as they can stay out of the damn hospital.

Flyers & CBJ have not tanked nearly enough to ice legitimate elite level contending teams in the next couple years IMO.

well im biased no doubt but a fully healthy CBJ team right now is a cotender.

they have a bunch of solid talent a year or two away that they collected when they were awful and are in a pretty good cap situation having locked up guys like Bob, Dubinsky, Foligno long term.

don't lump them in with the flyers.

yeah, please don't lump them in with the Flyers. We don't want to be associated with a team that's never won a playoff series.

CBJ already has a coach better than babcock so i doubt he goes there. Sabres have Kane McDavid/Eichel and Reinhart plus a lot more draft picks.

Buffalo's core has the POTENTIAL to be very solid in the coming years, but right now they're underdeveloped. AHL, ECHL and NCAA-solid, sure. Still a lot of question marks with Reinhart.

The franchise has been selling the fanbase idea of "potential" and a "bright future" for the last 5 years, it's high time we see some results IMO. But what do I know.

Can't speak to the Flyers, as I don't watch them. Ick.

If the Sabres play their cards right - stay patient, find the right coach, etc. - they're going to be really solid. They've got some good, underrated pieces already. Guys like Bogosian? Hold onto those guys. They'll be key for the youngsters.

And they have 3 first round draft picks, right?

Or is it 2? Didn't they get one for Vanek and Miller?

That's what I thought. If they win the lottery, they're going to be a force to be reckoned with very, very soon.
