Rooftop

maybe my favorite song so far off the album.. so rock-ish

almost sounds like Get In Line at first

Re: Rooftop

The bridge might be my favorite snippet of music from the album.

Re: Rooftop

It's the only one I'm having a hard time with so far... it's got an Everyday feel to it and I just despise that album. I need to let that one grow on me.

Re: Rooftop

Its got like an 80's rock sound to it. Digging it

Re: Rooftop

The verses are very R.E.M. I love it. If anyone is familiar with Big Head Todd and The Monsters, the chorus is just like something they would write. Really good mix

Agreed. The bridge is stellar and probably my favorite part of the album also. This song is going to be so badass live. It's my favorite on AFTW

Re: Rooftop

Very "fool to think" but not in a bad way. Fool to think was actually one of my favorite songs off of everyday. Rooftop is a great blend of a solid bluesy line and a driving rock beat.

Re: Rooftop

this is probably my favorite holy shit. like ACDC type rock awesomeness wow and yes that really reminded me of fool to think and i love fool to think

Re: Rooftop

To me it seems like a left over track from Big Whiskey. It's a good rockin track, just seems out of place with the rest of the album. Then again, it's just a first listen so maybe my opinion will change.

Re: Rooftop

Also having a hard time with this one. Don't dislike it, but not a huge fan of the chorus. Different sound from the rest of the album too, almost doesn't seem to fit.

Re: Rooftop

really dig this song...i can definitely hear a little bit of Get in Line and a tiny bit of Dreams of Our Fathers

Re: Rooftop

Love this song so much

Re: Rooftop

How did they not play this live yet?!!? If I had this shit in my arsenal it'd be blowing up every night! Love the Get in Line feel.

Re: Rooftop

The bridge back into the verse riff is so damn old school... Big fuckin grin!!

Re: Rooftop

ive only listened to it once but my first impression was fool to think and i want you(she's so heavy) by the beatles baby. i liked it though

Re: Rooftop

Does seem like something that would have been on BW but I still enjoyed it a lot. I also really like Shake Me tho. But regardless, jamming tune that had me headbanging a little.

Re: Rooftop

This song is the Too Much of this album. Not as good as Too Much, but better than the previous attempts since except for Kit Kat Jam.

Re: Rooftop

Still warming up to this one. I like it, just don't love it yet

Re: Rooftop

the verses are very "Fool to Think" imo, but the chorus is fucking great

spoot388 09-04-2012 07:25 PM

Re: Rooftop

very fool to think/dreams of our fathers sounding, but in a good way. better than either of those. definitely enjoying this one. can't wait to hear it live!

moosicmaniac 09-04-2012 07:36 PM

Re: Rooftop

the chorus riff reminds me of Zepplin's No Quarter

Panther41 09-04-2012 07:38 PM

Re: Rooftop

Seriously--the comparisons and comments here are freaking me out. Can this album really be as good as all that??? :D

Re: Rooftop

was not really a fan of this one on first listen, but now after 2 or 3 more listens I REALLY like it

I really appreciate the intensity and complexity and I think that is what has swayed me

Re: Rooftop

The guitar riff and verse are ridiculously happy sounding to me. It contrasts really well with the music in the chorus and bridge (which is also awesome) Its songs like this, where each structural component (verse, chorus, bridge) offers something musically that is both good by itself and that fits into the whole composition. JTR is another song that does this (and it's my favorite song). I think this explains why I like this song so much.

Re: Rooftop

I absolutely love this song. 4th favorite, I think, for now. So many good tunes, my list is oscillating by the minute.

Re: Rooftop

For some reason the riff, at least at the beginning of the song, sounds like a cross between R&R and #34. Maybe I'm crazy, dunno.

you are crazy, because the riff sounds like a mix of dreams of our fathers and fool to think. seriously, go listen to a piece of those 2 really quick and jump to rooftop.

also, the chorus sounds a bit like i did it. with a hint of so right in there too. crazy how everything this song reminds me of is all from everyday.

vikes989 09-04-2012 08:10 PM

Re: Rooftop

I can't really explain it, but I hear 34 in there. My mind immediately went to it

I do get the fool to think comparison though
