agreed BUT:

if letang can get his legs under him before round 1 and geno is back healthy, the makeup of this team changes drastically

still don't think they are real cup contenders, but they are much more dangerous

Seidenberg skated for the first time since he tore his ACL and MCL earlier in the season. The guy is a machine, I can't believe he even got back onto ice this year with injuries like that.

Do you have any insight if the B's are playing Game 1 on Thur and Game 2 on Sat or Game 1 on Wed and Game 2 on Fri? Thanks.

Game 2 I have no idea about, but game 1 has to be Thursday because the Celtics are home Wednesday night. You getting any playoff tickets? I'll be at game 2 in the AT&T sports deck, never sat there before so I can't wait!

wait, the stars v jackets "make up" game from the peverley incident is starting from the beginning?

but there is still a 1-0 score to start the first period? this doesn't make sense to me

Did the same thing for Wings/Preds in 05-06 when Jiri Fischer went down. Preds started the game up 1-0. Preds won that game by 1 too.

that makes 0 sense to me

it's unfair to the team with the lead, at least at first glance

obviously anything can happen once the puck drops, but this is essentially a 70+ minute game pending any OT

I am pretty much in agreement with you. If 10 minutes had elapsed in the first period, the first period of the "make-up" game should start at the 10 minute mark. Especially if a goal was scored.

This reasoning falls apart though, if, say, there was only 10 minutes left in the THIRD period when the game was called off for whatever reason. Would the make-up game only be 10 minutes long?

So, yeah... not sure. Starting the game over on the time clock makes sense from that perspective, but if you're starting the game over time-wise, reasoning suggests you'd start the game over score-wise as well.

if they start from the beginning then it should be 0-0, if you keep the score then the clock should start where it left off

reference baseball:

If the game has completed the top half of the 5th inning and the home team is ahead, the game can be deemed an official game. The home team is declared the winner, and the game officially counts in standings.

If the game has completed the bottom half of the 5th inning and either team is ahead, and in Minor League Baseball and college games, it is the final game of the series, the game can be deemed an official game. The leading team is declared the winner, and the game officially counts in standings. However, if the game is rained out prior to the completion of an inning in which the visiting team scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead, the game is suspended, to be resumed at a later date.

If the game has completed the 5th inning, and the teams are tied, or in college and some Minor League Baseball games regardless of inning, and it is not the final game in the series (the first or second game in a three-game series, also regardless of inning), the game is considered suspended, and the resumption of the game is scheduled for a future date (usually the following day). The game picks up from where it left off.

If none of the previous scenarios apply, the game cannot be deemed official. The umpire declares "No Game," and a make-up of the game is scheduled for a future date unless it is not feasible. The latter occurs mainly among the minor leagues and college due to travel schedules, and only in the major leagues among teams that have been declared mathematically eliminated from postseason play where no benefit in the standings would be derived. The statistics compiled during the rained out game are not counted.

the bolded would be the NHL version. should start at 0-0 with 20 min on the clock.

All they needed was a point so I'm happy. Disappointed Monster keeps getting some bad breaks. The second Neal goal (Matt's best friend) went off DeKeyser and the 3rd one squeaked through him. Same kinda stuff was happening against the Habs. Thankfully Howard's the rest of the way and he's been great. 23 straight years...wow. I was 7 when they last missed. Kinda sad when you think back on it. There were only 21 teams in the league then, and it was a divisional playoff and the Norris only had 5 teams in it. So they were 1 of 5 that didn't make it, and only one in the division that didn't that year.

Just kinda funny that when the league grew to 22, 24, 26, 30 teams they make the playoffs every year. But when only 5 teams DIDN'T make the playoffs and only one team in your division missed it every year, you didn't make it in. I wasn't watching back then, but had to suck for teams when they did miss thinking you were 1 of only 5 that didn't make it in. 76% of the league made it in every year back then.

ehh i don't know about that

i notice that todd richards likes to match jack johnson against crosby, and he hasn't been that effective

crosby seems to out-skate johnson on a regular basis, but thats not a knock on johnson

also, how many times have the pens been healthy when they've played CBJ? not many i'd bet

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Right now it's possible that we have 7 teams in the west with over 100 points, 5 with the potential to have over 110.

That's downright absurd.

Happy for the jackets. Doesn't matter though since i am just a moron pens fan.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

It would be fitting if the pens went against the wings. The team that bylsma won against to secure his job could end up being the team that seals his fate.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

come on bradshaw i wasn't talking about you specifically, the pens fans do have a bit of hockey snobbery though, i always hear them complaining about the boards and the lighting and the ice at nationwide. nowhere near as bad as leafs fans though.

ive always rooted for the pens, the way they played against boston in the playoffs last year did not help though.

hailtopitt 04-10-2014 10:39 AM

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

that's because there are very few real pens fans at home games

they're all sushi-eating mother fuckers

its only a 4.5 hour drive and it's actually somewhat difficult to get a ticket in buffalo. plus, any reason to get out of buffalo is a good reason :lol

I can only hope. So I need Lightning to beat the Jackets tomorrow and Wings to go 1-0-1 over the last 2. Wings/Pens goes 6 or 7 and can hope for a Wings win. Bruins/Wings? Maybe it goes 6 but not with the team in red on top.

All fans of more successful franchises end up with douchebags. They start liking the team cause it's popular, so then all of a sudden they know everything. Same goes for all the business people sitting down low. The late 90's Wings game got really quiet in the regular season. Been a lot better recently because it's not the go-to event that it was 10-15 years ago.

On that list for douche-baggery is Habs fans. I just remember some at a Wings game a few years ago and some guys were yacking back and forth just for fun and the Habs fan then took it personal and was like pointing at the banners and how they have more Cups. Habs could never win again and have more so I'm not sure that's the best argument.

Wings and Leafs are the closest and they are THIRTEEN behind. I'm interested to see how they do this year though. They impressed me a couple weeks ago. Vanek looks good there and with possible no Bishop, they'll get to round 2 against the Bruins rather easily and Habs tend to beat the Bruins...a lot.

other than the atmosphere in the arenas, i pretty much hate everything about canadian hockey
