Great lineup as always. Was hoping for D&T somehow haha, but cool to see this is still happening!

If this is Farm Aid 2020, what was the virtual thing where Dave, Neil, Willie, John etc. played earlier this year?

Seems to be something altogether different.

It was a benefit they did for farmers that had been impacted by COVID.

This one stings a bit. After the 2020 tour was initially announced with no dates that worked with my summer schedule, we decided another Farm Aid pilgrimage would be put into works. So while everybody else got to mourn their summer that wasn’t these past few months, this was my reminder I was supposed to see Dave (and most likely Tim) until COVID ruined it all. Hopefully those old guys keep on for another year and Virtual Farm Aid isn’t my last Farm Aid.

Wonder which venues will be featured or if it will all be from home.

I was hoping that since it falls on the same day as Record Store Day that there would be a gimmick vinyl from different performers only exclusive on RSD to benefit the farmers. Makes sense to me.

Dave Solo DDTW >>>> 2008-Present too fast wall of sound full band DDTW

To me the song is better as a campfire song as played via modern dave and tim or dave solo. The best versions are during the butch era where the piano and daves guitar drove the song. The worse versions are the present day full band versions where tim is playing absurd harmonics like DMB is a metal band.

Radio City DDTW is the absolute best version of DDTW and it’s not close IMO.

Very good version, probably not in my top 5 but it's really good, perfect build up and great vocals :thumbsup

Was hoping maybe he cut it for the limited Farm Aid slots. But knowing how lazy dave is it may not come back.....such a shame.

I don't think it's ever been about lazy nor was it ever likely malicious, the 3rd verse (and second bridge...never been just the verse that was missing) that is. But he was singing it w/o those parts for almost two decades. Two solo performances during the last six months weren't likely to trigger the original parts and lyrics permanently back to the forefront of his mind.

So much of what all artists perform is musical muscle memory...

So many other songs have been extended though. Two step went from 10 minutes to 15-20 minutes with a time bomb lyric intro. Jimi Thing has grown and expanded year over year. Dave even through 2019 has reshaped sugar will. If dave really wanted to play the 3rd verse he would have the lyrics added back to the teleprompter years ago or even a few shows after the late night performance it was cut from.

Lots of artists perform from muscle memory but dave makes up skats and lyrics on the fly on a nightly basis.

An edited video opportunity to enlighten awareness about the plight of the family farm. Off the cuff worked in the past, not this time IMO. Perhaps Dave was too hot and humid to focus on the cause... I donated anyway:freak
