good move by the oilers. A smart one too. They're figuring out that their biggest weakness is in net and they're fixing it.

Watching the Flyers/Oilers and it sure looks like a bad call, the match Penalty on Belov for the hit on Giroux. Giroux's head clearly snaps so it looks like a head shot but every time they show it, it looks shoulder to shoulder.

Bad call. Wish they would show another angle.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

^ Was definitely shoulder to shoulder then he MAY have grazed his head. Not worth a match for sure. Flyers didn't do much with it anyway.

OMGCG finally on the board! Only 5 more wins in a row to get to double digit wins!

Sounds worthy of a six-game suspension.

Oh, wait, that's only if it's Raffi Torres.

Sam Berns on NESN in between Bruins game gave a PSA for progeria and talked about being at DMB at Alpine in the summer. What a person that young man is. Anyone else see it?

I guess after everything last year in the playoffs, we still own the Leaves

Someone please talk me back from the ledge. It is quite clear the defense Snow thought would be good enough to make progress on last year's playoff berth is awful, pitiful, weak, clueless, dumb and ahl-worthy.. We do miss Visnovsky but we need more than him to right this ship. And now Vanek got hurt on the opening shift last night on a slash that was not called.

Toews-Sharp-Hossa is the best line in hockey. No team can beat that.

Well they are anchored by the second best player in the NHL.

Avalanche win again.

BUT THE PUCK POSSESSION NUMBERS AREN'T GOOD CHRIS!!! I DON'T BELIEVE THIS 14-2-0 IS GOOD BECAUSE OF THOSE PUCK POSSESSION NUMBERS!

I thought puck possession numbers exhibited they were a good team?

:lol

Forget the fact they made Ovi look like a pee wee out there and stifled the league's best PP.

Btw, do Mike Green and Subban train together in the offseason? Exact same player.

My criticism for Ovechkin has been well-documented here. Some have called it unfair. Well...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=n0Wjs-Q3S_Y

Sorry, Ovi, but if you ever want to be mentioned in the same breath as some of your Cup-winning contemporaries (Crosby, Toews, etc.), you better not throw a half-ass check like that. Despicable. If any of you coach or are thinking about coaching youth hockey, here is a great video to show how NOT to hit. Landeskog didn't even pull a fancy move or anything, just skated hard and took advantage of a player who everyone knows is a one-trick pony.

"OMG, Ovi has 13 goalz dis year. He's da best player in teh wooooooorldz"

:lol

the metroplitan division is so bad. the fact that the bluejackets are still very much in the thick of things is a joke.

edit:

games @ washington, @ boston and vs. montreal will knock them down a few pegs this week though :lol

Nope. Not according to Bron. They're in the bottom portion of the league in those numbers he was pulling up.

Seriously. I have never, ever liked Mike Green. If I were a GM, I would have no spot on my roster for them. No matter what the cost. Give me guys like Alex Pietrangelo, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Duncan Keith, etc. all day if we're talking offensive defenseman. Hell, I'd rather have a blue line full of guys like Hjalmarsson that NEVER put up points, but are incredible on the defensive side of the puck than guys like Subban or Green.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...if we were to do the ever-popular "NHL redraft", I wouldn't take Ovechkin anywhere in the first 30-40 picks. If I were a GM, and the NHL completely redrafted, and Ovie was sitting there with guys like Dustin Brown, Patrick Sharp, Jamie Benn, etc...no way am I taking Ovechkin.

It's a similar reason to why I just can't say that I believe Crosby is the #1 player in the world.
