Messier for nothing. Very Oilers. Gotta be a matter of hours before Pete gets canned. No way can they let him deal with the trade deadline and draft.

Fixed that for ya

"They canned a head coach, the GM is on the firing line, they're 12th in the West and just lost at home to the last place team in the NHL.

And (I am not making this up) statistically this is the Edmonton Oilers fourth best season in the last 13 years."

Rock fucking bottom right now. Statistics be damned, this is the worst Oilers team I can remember.

But hey, I'm sure the exec team will hire a top rate GM, get a coach who can coach in the 'new' NHL and we'll have a perennial playoff team in the near future.

:lol :lol :lol

Kidding, it's the Oilers!

Haha so true. With some competent management, how long is a rebuild? Do I just follow the flames till then?

Can't say for certain, but probably less than 14 years.

33 goals against in the Caps last 20.5 period. That’s over a goal and a half per period.

Not good.

Anyone watch the snooze competition?
Too bad they gave the win to the wrong person in the passing event. Though oilers winning things is a nice change.

I thought they did a pretty solid job with the whole weekend. Lundqvist winning the saves streak competition and then blanking the central for ten minutes in the final was great to see, dude deserves it. Matthews busting out the Marleau was great. Seeing Gaudreau and Kane battle (again) in the stick handling competition was fun. I admit seeing Heiskanen wipe out during the speed skating was scary but then funny when he shrugged it off. I was even surprisingly entertained by gritty! :lol

Now the low lights - so to speak. The passing competition needs some change, you can see the frustration on these guys. The event just takes too darn long. The player names during the game and that stupid black trail following the puck need to go, my screen is too damn cluttered - maybe make it optional like SAP so those of us who can follow a puck and read numbers do not have to see it. Booing Crosby for beating the Sharks in the SCF and booing Tavares for not signing with SJ was pretty bad, not entirely unexpected but still - it was the all star game, get over it and just enjoy the skill these guys have for two days!

All in all though it was a fun all star weekend.

What's everyone's move they want their team to make? I want the Flyers to trade Simmonds and get something for him. They need to shake things up somehow and I think he is the easiest piece to move.

Hoping the Hawks can move Ward's contract (Delia is playing well and looks like Crawford will return this year) before the deadline and get another piece of the offensive puzzle locked up with that money and the free cap space they will have at the end of the year, perhaps a return to Chicago by Panarin!

So happy for the ladies.

CCM giving Decker $25,000 was amazing and the right thing to do.

Could easily see the pens trading Brassard

Oleksiak being swapped for a 4th rounder feels like a setup move for something else. I still expect Brassard to go.

Muzzin to the Leafs

Better to acquire Dman sooner rather than closer to deadline

I have a confession to make: I've been watching way more basketball than hockey this season. Does that make me a bad person?

Not a bad person - just bad taste

Basketball is difficult to watch for me unless there are stars in the game. Even when the Wizards were decent I couldn't bring myself to watch it. Just not my cup of tea

Playoffs are fun

I couldn’t make it through an NBA game if I tried. The wizards could literally play in my back yard and I’m not sure I’d step outside and watch.

Really glad to see Leonsis deflected the White House visit question again. That’s the best way they can handle it. Just deflect it until people stop asking and eventually someone else will win the damn thing.

You know how I know this thread is dead? Nothing on the Pierre/Kendall interaction.....I’m a Pierre supporter but that was a little rough

Good for both of them handling & understanding all the context

Ditto, BBall reminds me of ping pong or tennis - back and forth, back and forth except they score more. Just mindless BS IMO, rather watch grass grow or paint dry. If they wanted to make it more interesting just spot each team 100 points and play 5 minutes because between fouls, foul shots, timeouts, commercials and such the game would still last an hour! :)
