True, nhl can't tell who is going to be good each year though. I mean, the winter Classic was not exactly thrilling this year either because the Wings are not so hot.

daveshookme 03-02-2014 01:50 PM

I haven't back read the entire convo but I think the winter classic and all the stadium series games are a great spectacle. Perhaps they have too many this year but I love them and hope they stick around for years to come.

Agree Wings haven't been themselves this year, but to say the Winter Classic wasn't thrilling, with a game-tying goal with like 5 minutes to go and a shootout, I wouldn't agree with.

There were too many this year. I think they were trying to appease many teams at one time. I think the reason NYC got two was because Yankee Stadium was never gonna get a Winter Classic because the bowl game that takes place that week so they gave them this. Then to not piss one of the other NY teams off, gave them each a game with the Rangers. Three games in what 5 days, was a little much. Then the fact that the Pens/Hawks was so far after the others, and afater the Olympics, it didn't get the hype that the others got. I would do maybe 3 a year, including the WC.

Oh and how royally have the Canucks fucked up with goalie thing? Fans are booing now because Lack isn't doing well. Not booing him, just the situation. Bad time, with so many thinking Lou should start, for him to have a bad game.

HallowBillies7 03-02-2014 04:33 PM

Nice to see at least Rask showing up in the game. Classic Bruins playing like crap right around the trade deadline.

I'd still love to see Flyers-Pens at Beaver Stadium. Would be an awesome center point for a great in-state rivalry.

There goes Brandon Pirri...to the Florida Panthers.

Who else?

I feel like Stan and Dale just like swapping shit around.

Am I supposed to take that as perverted as I did?

So a big shout out to Matty's Avs. That win helps the Wings out. Still down 5 to TBL but the Lightning are trending down, while the Wings are trending up....for now.

:lol Take it however you want.

But seriously, I feel like 50% of the trades in the NHL are between the Panthers and the Blackhawks.

Yeah, you see that a lot in sports. Two guys just work together and find it easier to make deals. Wings pulled off a few trades with Buffalo back in the day cause Holland and Regeir need each other well.

Wow, thanks. Gonna have to read that. I am such a dork, I remember that day like yesterday. Pre-twitter, stuff took longer to travel. Even the internet wasn't what it is today. I remember getting online in the late morning before work, had AOL at my parents so had to dial up, and went to ESPN. The headline was Doug Weight going to the Blues and I saw that and though "aw shit, they are gonna be good now." And since it was dial up, was taking a while, and was reading the paragraph that was still on the main page and at the end of the teaser paragraph it said the Weight traded happened how many ever hours after Buffalo shipped Domink Hasek and his $9mil contract to Detroit. Couldn't hit the stop button fast enough to go back and click that story. In that mornings paper, there was a quote from Holland saying he was happy with their goaltending too. lol

Hey, it was 2001.

Three wins? I dunno. Nashville and TO are possible. Chicago and Dallas are possible. It's not the NBA, the top teams don't win every night. But saying that, CBJ could lose to the Leafs just as easily. They gotta get that first one. I'm in a weird spot. A Jackets win gets them to within a point of the Wings but it also keeps the Wings 4 points behind the Leafs and with THREE games in hand.

When in doubt, root for the jackets. We need it.

Agree, tonight is the most important..

So of that list, who do we think for sure gets traded? Vanek and Moulson I think are for sure goners. Would be stupid, especially for Vanek, to not get traded. Andrew MacDonald and Legwand would be my other two. Not sure about some of those names. Hemsky is rumored every year at this time.

Kesler to the Blackhawks for Bickell and the Bulin Wall.

Brohan is that you? With D. Sedin going down, I wonder how likely a Kesler trade is now. Before that, I thought he was as good as gone. Not so sure now.

I think he's traded this offseason.

Also, LOL at that picture of Erat on that site.

LeBrun said they are closer than they were, but we'll see. Hope we get somewhat of an entertaining day. Not sure I'll be off work yet or not. But if I am I want it to be good. I hope my time off gets approved, cause you know I'll barely be paying attention to work here anyways.

Yeah, LeBrun's reporting a difference of like half a million/year at this point. I can see it going either way.

As for the list you posted, Tim, I would say just about anyone from Buffalo. Would also be interested to see just how much off-loading Edmonton does, although I think they could be more active come the off-season. They are in need of hockey trades more than anything, and quality ones at that. If it were me, I'd still be moving Nugent-Hopkins before Eberle. But that's just me.

Hawks sign Bollig to a 3 year extension to the tune of 1.25 mil per year.

I....I really don't get it.

It's not just you.

I maintain the only 'untouchables' on that team should be Eberle, Hall, J. Schultz, Ference and Perron (and probably now Scrivens too). Everyone else is fair game.

I like the way you think. :thumbsup Move the Nuge while his value is still high. Keep Eberle, who has "captain" written all over him.

This might garner me some scorn, but I view Eberle as a Toews Jr.
