Yeah, look at this and tell me the Pens dominated :rolleyes

I like #fancystats all well and good but they never tell the full story.

And Im not saying the pens dominated, Im saying they controlled the pace of play the majority of the time. Their fore-checking was superior to the caps and they were much more effective at creating odd man breaks.

Caps couldn't skate with the Pens whatsoever outside of game 3

Yeah, he has plenty of time to win and most of that team should be back next season for another crack at it. Also worth noting is that there are some great players in NHL history who never won a cup, notably Dionne, Bure, Stamkos, Lundquist, Roenick, etc, etc.

Game 4 was the deciding game. No Letang and no Maatta and you don't beat them. Should have been 2-2.

This - easy. They should have taken that game relatively easy but they couldn't flip a switch. They just did not play as solid a series as Pittsburgh in any way.

Yup, be an interesting series against TB.

Be nice to see the Sharks advance.

Pretty much sums up all of the wrong desicision our management has made, along with the reality of how much Cap issues kill the Rangers.

Not that it is the same situation as not having won in two decades but I watch these games and am continually amazed at how many guys got their deep playoff run experience with the Hawks.

Actually, that is not far from the truth. Russia recalled Ovi, Orlov and Kutznetzov for the world cup of hockey per ESPN. God help them if they don't win that, then maybe Putin will stand them up against a wall for a dose of 9mm Excedrin!

Aren't you setting the bar kinda low? Losing to the Pens in round 3 would have been a huge deal? With all the regular season success the only thing I probably would have been ok with would be a loss in the Finals, especially with how deep and how well-rounded this team has become. They didn't choke but they still aren't good enough to win. 2009 the two best teams probably were facing off in round 2 then too and the Pens took it and got the weak team in the ECF's. You take the hand your dealt.

I'm not meaning this in any mean way just so you know. I'm not trying to rub salt in your wounds or anything. My team can't even produce in the regular season with decent talent.

Yeah I guess it's a low bar. Kinda makes it more frustrating.

When you're so tired from triple OT you can't even hop over the boards anymore.

Go Preds. They are my new team after the Caps failed to advance. Although me picking a team seems to be more of a death sentence.

It's nice to not walk around chewing mustache hairs all day simply because they've now curled into my mouth

Oh my wife loves the beard. She'd probably file for divorce if I ever went back to clean shaven

Must be nice. Although like I said, it's fun to bug her. The beard had a lot more gray in it then I'd like so this doesn't make me look nearly as old.

Right there with you, seems like no one I cheer for wins the series. Wacky playoff season, fun but strange in how I am constantly picking losers. Love to see a St. Louis vs San Jose conference final but I am sure one of those teams will find a way to blow game 7.

Re: The NHL Thread

In all the Ovie hasn't won much yet....we can look out West for that too. Thornton and Marleau are much older and haven't won anything yet. Sure they've been to a conference final twice but are 1-8 in those two series and are much older.

Hoping TBL in the next round. Hate them for beating the Wings but they haven't won one in a while now. And the more they win without Stammer, the more he likely leaves, hoping he wears Red in the fall and not Montreal red.
