Ducks probably happier they didn't fire Bruce.

Yeah, it was only like a month ago that I was able to throw this pity party for myself, saying that if the Avs were in the Pacific division, they'd be comfortably seeded in a divisional playoff spot. Welp, so much for that.

Cool stat:

Mark Lazerus ‏@MarkLazerus 54m54 minutes ago Fourteen of the 22 #Blackhawks currently on the active roster make less than a million dollars a season.

Not as cool as some of Brohan's stats, but still cool. And potentially scary.

And one of the players not on their roster it taking up over $4mil in cap space. ;)

True but it will be an uphill battle because he doesn't have much firepower on his line, let alone on his team. He is 35 points, ten goals and 25 assists behind Artemi Panarin so I would have to give Panarin an edge now. Shit, can you imagine how productive he would be if he was the center for the line with Kane and Panarin on the wings? Anisimov is solid on that line but McDavid would make that line even better and that is tough considering we are talking about arguably the most productive line in the NHL with Kane/Anisimov/Panarin.

Edit: Always screw up the spelling of Anisimov for some reason.

Okay everyone, I am really excited to announce that I will be going to Chicago to see the Blackhawks host the Kings on March 14th! Friend of mine totally won a sports bet and we are flying out first class, going to the game, and have one night free in a sweet hotel!

Hawks fans, give me the best tips on going to a Hawks home game!

Sweet, that sounds great. I'd love to give you some tips but to be honest outside of a few layovers at the airport I have never set foot in Chicago. :lol

Yeah MT gonna out real quick if he keeps doing that. As the article points out, sure it was risky and he probably should have done something different, but this isn't giving up on a play it was just a mistake. I've seen guys do a lot dumber stuff.

Some article I read, can't find it now, made a point. Even though they are without their best player, should the Habs be this bad? Everyone has a star player that if they were gone, the team would be a lot worse off but this is pretty crazy how bad they've become. Take Kane off the Hawks and they don't go from best team in the conference to one of the worst. I can see when a guy first goes down, guys trying to find their new roles cause you have to adjust but he's been gone a while now.

Yeah, they play like they have been on the same line for years - the way they anticipate each others movements is almost like they read each others minds.

Like how Anisimov is getting better at winning faceoffs.

Shaw is just a grinder who gives it his all on every shift. He is underrated due to the other guys on the Hawks but he is an asset any team would want to have.

Have to figure that Panarin is the frontrunner for the Calder.

One gripe I did have was the double minor for high sticking that gave the Rangers the lead. Hockey is a contact sport and if a high stick gets a player in the face with the blade it is more than likely to draw some blood.

Rangers (my second favorite team) have been playing great for two months, it is rather normal to have a let down at some point especially against one of the premier teams in the league. Without that double minor that game could have been a blowout.

yeah, but at least it was the right call. I agree about the let down, but it was at home after a couple days off. had this been tonight in Toronto, I may have agreed more so.

Sure, but he would make any line better. Could you imagine him centering Ovechkin? Or on a line with Stamkos?

Yeah, I liked it as well. There's a place for calling your player out for an on-ice mistake, and I don't think the media is that place. My only difference in opinion is that Campbell seems to be implying that MT should give Subban that break because he's a star. I would contend that it should be that way for ANY player on the roster.

Although I did smile inside. Not only was it the play that won the game for my team, but it was against Subban. And you guys know how I feel about Subban.

And damn, if you haven't watched the actual goal that resulted, go back and check it out. Gorgeous tic tac toe.

I think it's down to him and Larkin. As far as points and scoring prowess, Panarin is obviously right there. Playing with Kane, of course, helps. But I really like Larkin's all-around game. He might not end at 1st in the rookie points scoring race, but his three zone game is so solid. He plays like a much older player with a ton of poise and good decision making. Reminds me a lot of Joe Sakic (and by association, Johnny Toews).

I love Panarin's panache, but I'd give a slight nod to Larkin just for personal preference. Gots To Be Here rounds out the Top 3 for Calder in my mind. Only reason McDavid isn't there is because of time missed. But if he keeps up what he's doing, there's no way he can't be included!

Yeah, McDavid is turning out to be one of those generational talents. I can pretty much guarantee the Oilers would move anyone else on their roster before they moved McDavid or allowed him to walk. He is the Oilers' Patrick Kane, Sidney Crosby, Alexander Ovechkin, etc.

Agree completely with all of this, Larkin is damn good and Panarin certainly benefits by playing on the same line as Kane. Shame McDavid was out so long, he is going to be a star. At this point though I would give the edge to Panarin simply because he is running away with the rookie points race via goals and assists.

:lol Yeah, completely agree with that. Loosing to a solid team like the Hawks or some of the other playoff bound teams is not too tough to handle but if they blow a game against a scrub team like the Leafs I'd be rather annoyed.
