I was thinking, that would suck if the Caps scored after a soft call like that. Ouch.

Hawks had plenty of chances to score after all the soft calls that went their way.

All completely true as well.

Really enjoyed the Classic today. Hate the Caps, but 'twas a great game all the same.

Did anyone else struggle to focus on the actual gameplay with all the crazy angles they kept switching to?

A little. They used it too much. I actually like the angles, especially on the powerplay. But like I said, three straight minutes of topsy turvey views made my head spin.

Yes. I can't tell you how many times I said "put the real angle back please". I know they've used that camera in the past but it felt like they really used it a lot yesterday.

There's always a million ways a game can go, sure. I just hate to see those soft calls made that late in the game. I would've felt the same thing if it had been the other way around and the Caps had gotten the penalty.

Overall, in terms of the game, it was an awesome game. I wish the chippyness from the first period could've carried over, but they settled into a nice back and forth for the second and third that was fun to watch too.

It was weird for a bit, yeah. but mostly I liked it.

if i had a real rooting interest it would have bothered me i think but since i was just watching for the spectacle of outdoor hockey i really enjoyed it.
really highlighted how quickly the game moves IMO.

What a comeback by the Kings last night. 2 goals in the last 2 1/2 minutes to win the game. Feels good to slide into 2nd.

interesting

Perron-Crosby-Hornqvist
Kunitz-Malkin -Bennett
Is pretty dangerous. You could swap any of those guys. Love it.

i've been advocating for the pens to initiate a trade for evander kane, Perron could look good up there though

god knows they need as many wingers as they can get

Kane was my top choice as well. Perron is going to be great though.

great trade for the Pens, and like winning the lottery for Perron.

As an Oiler, you should know about winning the lottery.

I think this is one of those win/win things. Good trade for both sides.

haha, yep.

I don't know much at all about Rob Klinkhammer other than he has a badass name. Another first round pick is our ticket to success though for sure! it's what's been missing.

klinkhammer, from what i've seen, won't light up the stat sheet but he'll draw you some penalties and eat some quality minutes. he's a nice bottom 6

It's easy to be skeptical, but they obviously need to retool. When you see what other teams gave up for first round picks in recent years, the Oil received a pretty good return for Perron.

Yep true enough. My default position is skeptical right now, but good to see a few moves in the last little while.

Re: The NHL Thread

Agree with Chris. Great move for both clubs.

Klinkhammer is a good penalty killer who will set an example of hard work while logging maybe 12-ish minutes a night.

They were doing the crazy angles last year too. Try not to be Fox and the glowing puck.

Halak now 18-2 in his last 20 starts. Best signing of the summer?

2-0 to start longest road trip of the season. JT with both goals and if he is going to get hot, we will be in good shape

USA doesn't finish in a medal position again. Should we be worried about the hockey program in this country?

Perhaps a little at the upper levels, yes. But hockey in the US is growing more and more every year. Kids all over are on the ice, and it's great. Even if they never come close to making the NHL

Also, we are seeing a pretty high number of Americans getting drafted high. That's cool too.

But failing to medal at the last two WJCs? Yeah, I think there definitely needs to be some reevaluation of upper echelon development, both from a coach and player perspective.

Its tough though these kids have been playing all over the country either in college or juniors and then they are expected to have chemistry and bring home a gold within 3 weeks of playing together. I know its no excuse cause all other countries are in the same boat but it is a tall order. Side note: Jack Eichel

thechad90000 01-03-2015 03:44 PM

The Preds just love getting 6 on 5 goals scored against them.
