So, any bets on how badly the Caps will embarrass themselves tomorrow night? 5-1? 6-2? 7-0?

They'll win 4-2.

I'll say 6-2, in honor of the Caps' game 7 loss to the Pens in 2009;)

Preds fans can at least tell themselves they have a watchable team now. Plus, this series might have turned out differently with Weber in the lineup. Can you imagine how fucked the Hawks would be without Keith?

Also not too excited about yet another boring matchup with the Wild but is anyone surprised that the blues managed to fuck it up again?

Doubtful. I think that step one is to get rid of the goalie tandem and let one of those guys have the net, or get rid of them both for someone else. It's not "a good problem to have", it's just a problem. You need a starter, not two starters. Elliot is going to be gone, I'd think. Let Jake Allen have the net.

I think Backes is gone as well. Just like blaming your coach is the easy fix now adays in sports, so is your captain.

So you change the goalie situation, move Backes, and fire Hitch (hire Bylsma?), and maybe that's enough change to get people to buy in next year. Slap the C on Pietrangelo.

Oshie could bring in a good return as well, I'm sure, but do they have anything to replace him? Guess it depends on what they get for Backes.

TMoore4075 04-27-2015 09:38 AM

Re: The NHL Thread

They both stunk (Backes and Oshie) in the first round so the argument can be made for both. Allen is your future so stick with him but of course get a veteran to back him up. Hitch is gone for sure though. That's your usual fall guy.

Totally agreed to the bolded. Definitely the biggest question mark for the Blues.

My real thought is it's Vegas (not Portland) and Seattle and the rest might be true, Coyotes moving to KC or Milwaukee. Not sure on the FLA to QC one but I hope.

Re: The NHL Thread

They seem to be taking their time examining it this time compared to others. Not letting casinos do anything at first to really gauge the interest, making people put down actual financial commitments and so on. I still think it doesn't work but that's me. The biggest problem will be if they suck long term past the commitment period for those season ticket holders. Expansion teams tend to struggle at first and it's going to be even though for teams 31 and 32 than it was for 27-30.

I think it has to be Carolina or FLA. C-Bus & Detroit have been told (publicly too) they aren't going back West, which would need to happen if Yotes moved East. That's why I think if Coyotes move, it's to KC or Milwaukee (if they get a new arena).

Fully agree. Coaches always say that line "its a good problem to have". It's not. Like you said, it's just a problem. Teams need a solid #1. 1a and 1b almost never works.

My feeling on the series the whole time has been this: can the Caps win? Yes, they are absolutely good enough. Will the Caps win? Who the fuck knows. I have no clue what will happen tonight.

I do know that Ovechkin is 2-5 in game 7's with just one goal in those seven games. He's gonna need to remedy that.

Re: The NHL Thread

To the goalie thing, it's good to have a solid backup just in case, but a clear cut #1.

I'm not sure what the Wings do speaking of that. If Mrazek wins this series and keeps playing like this in round 2 (win or lose) I think Howard might be gone. I see the positive of keeping him in case Mrazek has a sophomore slump but Howard's value probably won't be higher than it is right now. Waiting a year when they both play like a 1A/1B thing probably brings the value down. I worry about finding a good backup though.

I know who I want to win.

My biggest worry is that with the last change the Caps can try and keep Ovi line away from Boychuk and Leddy as much as possible. I worry about Donovan and Mayfield tonight .

If we get pp goal tonight (if we get a pp), it could be huge.

JT and Halak need to be the 2 best players tonight and us getting the first goal is key .

I have so much nervous excitement already. Can't wait to leave work .

TMoore4075 04-27-2015 12:05 PM

Re: The NHL Thread

I really hope my teams pulls it off tonight. Don't want the stress of a game 7 back in Tampa. The way the last 3 games have gone (minus that 8 minutes from hell) Wings have dominated them and should win again tonight since they have last change. But I keep thinking, they can't keep them down forever can they? Stamkos will eventually breakout right? Can the young kids, especially Mrazek, close it out? 4th win is always the toughest. Ask Scott Darling.

Good luck sir. I have some hard cider at my house to help me out if I get stressed.

Yeah I've been laying off the booze lately cause of the baby and all, but tonight the Makerr's Mark might have to come out

I get that. The first few months with Griffin I almost never drank. Would make either the middle of the night or next morning tough. I think I went like a month with nothing and our first date night I got a beer and was buzzed off of that. I was like wooow, I feel like a light weight. lol I really wish this was later in the week. Game 7 on Friday would be nice, if it goes there, then I could get totally smashed if they lost. lol

This has been me basically all day.

I just remember one article "Game 7's are the best, unless your team is in it." That about sums it up for me.

Not me honestly. I mean we've been through this. There's a high chance they'll lose tonight. But they might win. I'll be into the game for sure, but whatever happens happens.

less than 3 hours now. I'm glad it's at 7 to not have to wait for it any longer. I hope I can eat all the crow I said I would if they won. Also want them to end it tonight to give the Habs anymore days off.

So if Wings won tonight do we think round 2 will start tomorrow or probably not until Wednesday still?

Not tomorrow. I just read that Rangers aren't practicing next two days so sounds like Thursday would be my guess. Possible the West starts Wednesday but haven't heard anything.

Thursday feels like a long time, especially if the Wings win tonight. That's two nights completely off. I guess that isn't that bad

Hard to tell fans to be ready in one day tomorrow morning. Maybe I'm wrong but would think they would have announced the Wednesday games by now if they were happening and say if Detroit win this or if they lose that.

Well, guys....as fans I think we've done all we can at this point. Now, it's up to the players to settle this thing.

Good luck to all, it's been a fun, nerve wracking well played series.

Stomach is a mess, heart already racing and I'm breathing heavy already.

Took a Xanax already. Might need another one soon.

Going to be an intense evening.
