USAs gold medal to lose if you ask me. Canada hasn't done anything to scare me yet and Sweden is too hurt. Granted anything can happen but I'm excited.

The thing I love most about these games, is that it's an easy reminder that these guys are hockey players. They aren't Canucks, or Blues, or Kings, etc.

I've loved watching guys I'm "supposed" to hate. Kesler has been freakin' fantastic, Oshie has been a stud, Backes has been playing great hockey...etc...etc. I love this stuff.

Also, you guys in NY really need to give Ryan McDonagh more love. That guy is underrated beyond belief.

I'm not saying in this thread specifically, just the NYR fanbase in general.

one thing, its scary to think canadas offense hasnt really done much yet, if they start clicking, look out.

im not sure if it is because Babcock is throwing them out there for 20 second shifts or because the lines aren't in sync yet. though i think they may have to do with each other.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

I went to lunch with the lady and one of our friends today and my lady friend had on her Brown USA jersey. The waiter made a comment about it and then we all chimned in about hockey and he responded "wait, you're all hockey fans?" We laughed and said yes. The next time he came back he was still so shocked we were all hockey fans. He said "I never would believe someone if they said there was a table of 3 girls who all liked hockey!"

When we left we just laughed and made comments in how he really wouldnt believe if we told him Brown was our friend. I guess it was just a case of hockey fans in CA PLUS them being girls.

He was just such a tool though.

When Kesler went to the locker room and it looked like he may have broke his hand my cousin sent me a text that said "that would suck if he broke his hand" and I responded with "...for about another week."

Sucks Canada and the US could face each other in the semis instead of the gold medal game.

Only way they face in gold is if Austria or Slovenia upsets Sweden

i think the most discouraging thing for the US is how slovenia controlled the play on sunday for the end of the 1st period and half of the 2nd period. a better team pumps 1 or 2 goals in that time frame and then the US is in trouble. they can't have extended periods in their D zone against the top teams

They are just terrific as well. No need to pick one over the other.

Yeah but I'm kinda with Sarah on this one. Oshie's is very plastic looking. Can't say I would turn her down if she wanted me (lol) but the others don't look as fake..

So Russia wins today. Rads with a 3 point night. It is night there right now right? Maybe his crap game against the US woke him up. I wouldn't count them out yet. They are a dangerous team.

They certainly looked better than they have in the second and third today, but they're gonna have to be better still if they really wanna win a medal. They may be good enough to get by the Fins, but I think they're gonna struggle. Ovechkin and Malkin both had noticeably bad games again. The Datsyuk line was fantastic, and the power play did look better (although it didn't score), but they're really gonna need the Malkin line to pick up some slack if they wanna get by the better teams.
