I enjoy most of the Stand Up, Big Whiskey & AFTW songs live, but it honestly depends on the position of the song in the set.

I find that Be Yourself isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I think we don't fully know what Be Yourself is going to be yet.
Sounds like they just pulled it out unfinished because it worked with the LL.

At least I hope so :shrug

This bands best years are far behind them, around 2004ish, since then... going through the motions at concerts, not listening to their fan base and picking up paychecks...

So Right & Minarets were the best two songs at NI last year.
Hoping for So Right again at DC. Outro is just great now. Should be played more, as with 20 other songs.

??? What are you talking about, I have no memory of any song called Be Yourself being played by DMB...

Re: Share your unpopular DMB opinions.

- If Dave actually wrote a decent melody & lyrics for Dreamgirl, it might have been a great song. The guitar part is great.

- American Baby is a pretty good song.

- I enjoy Everyday as a non-DMB pop record, and I think Angel in particular is a stand-out pop tune. I love the changes on the chorus in particular.

- I like Butch's scat solos on Jimi Thing way more than Dave's.

- I like Butch in general. I wish he'd come back.

Mercy is growing to be one of my favorite modern era DMB songs.

For me, the outro to Mercy is just so relaxing. I think it's the perfect feel for a warm summer evening at a show

Iv'e been a fan since the early days and the Lovely ladies have never bothered me whatsoever. I don't mind them at all in small doses.

Me neither. The LLs on Listener Supported never bothered me (or on Live At Folsom Field), and in fact, added to the songs they were on.

This band is dearly missing keyboard/piano.

Can't Stop isn't close to their worst song. You and Me is, and it's not close.

Re: Share your unpopular DMB opinions.

I wouldn't be upset if they never released another show prior to 1998. While most of the sets look amazing back then because there were no bad songs to play, they all sound the same to me. I enjoy a few older versions of songs, but for the most part I don't enjoy the sound of 1994 - 1997 DMB. I hate the sound of the Chet and Dave's vocals are painful to listen to.

The 1997 summer tour had 29 shows, in which they played 33 different songs. These days, if they don't hit 100 different songs we complain about lack of variety. In 1997, there were 7 songs that were played at literally every single show. I think the old days are overrated simply because they are the old days

Very interesting statistic. Not sure how to think about it but like you said previously in the post, there were no bad songs. Nowadays, there are several of them

I agree... I believe compared to AFTW songs they all fall just below Snow Outside but above or equal to the rest of the album

Since I strongly dislike the large majority of AFTW (including Snow Outside in my strong dislike) I think these 3 new songs are far superior to the AFTW material.

Its almost as if you didnt realise they had...2 albums.

Also, your opinion on the older days is...very off base.

Dont know if this is popular or unpopular, but I dont care much for any of the songs. Lyrically weak and boring musically.

American Baby is one of my favorite studio tracks from this band. Really enjoy that tune.
