You can clearly see what happened here was that Lockman missed the clear Slap Shot reference where Paul Newman as Coach Reggie Dunlap goes on the radio and puts a bounty on the head of Tim McCracken. For that reason, Lockman had to receive a brief suspension from the NHL thread.

:lol On Monday morning in the NHL thread an incident occurred in which Chris Lockman of the Chicago Blackhawks blatantly missed a quote that every respecting hockey fan should have picked up on. As the posts clearly show, the reference was made, and Chris did not immediately understand that it was referring to the hockey film, Slap Shot.

While we believe Chris's assertion that it was innocently missed, the fact remains that it was a blatant disregard of the Hockey Quote rule. It is also important to note that Chris has no prior history of missing hockey quotes.

To sum up:
- Hockey Quote rule
- No injury
- No prior history

The NHL Department of Player Safety has decided to suspend Chris Lockman for one hour.

You can't be serious? I'm beginning to really believe you're actually Scott Hall. But maybe you're right, maybe concussed players have complete personality changes. I mean shit, look at Eric Lindros. He's in the good graces of the city of Philadelphia for the first time in 12 years. PERSONALITY CHANGE.

Definitely not frustrated.

Concussions are documented to cause personality changes. Sid is acting insane. I don't see why that's such a crazy hypothesis on my part.

It's completely possible that he's frustrated and still messed up.

As someone in here said, if Crosby has drastic and severe personality changes, he shouldn't be playing hockey.

Frustration has been completely ruled out at this point. He's made that clear.

I just think Crosby is a shit bag and this is how he reacts to being humbled. That's not crazy either.

Shaw is having his hearing right now. I would be blown away if he is suspended.

I think he'll get a game. I don't necessarily agree with that but I think he'll get one.

If he is suspended one game and Weber got a fine, I will give up.

It's already established Shannahan fucked up big time with that one. Shaw isnt a star player so I think he gets a game.

If Shaw gets a game, I'm flipping shit. Incidental contact, Smith CLEARLY flopped and embellished his "injury"...no way.

Exactly. The whole world is seeing Crosby's true self firsthand. Every Pens fan I know is outright embarrassed, and none of them have tried to defend the almighty Sid.

Also best part of Caps game 2 win was Backstrom getting revenge on Thomas. Dude sucker punched him but Nicky got the upper hand...TT is a big douche who does that shit often

Definitely incidental. I can't say if he intentionally flopped, but man Smith sure made a show of it.

He's frustrated. If he came out and said something else, people would find a way to spin that as a negative too. He did some dumb shit yesterday, but the hockey playoffs are filled with dumb shit. He's basically the LeBron of the NHL at this point.

Literally, no one else in the league as a camera trained on them to catch a glove being knocked away.

dduncan6er 04-16-2012 12:14 PM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

So its the medias fault that he acted like a 5 year old and swept the glove away because he shouldn't have been on camera anyway?

he's in a lose-lose situation. if he's quite and boring in interviews, people hate him. if he shows some personality and acts like an ass hat people hate him. there's really nothing he can do about it.

"I don't like him....cause I don't like him..." - 6 year old that didn't want to share his toy, also Sidney Crosby

Poor Sidney Crosby. The guy can't even act like a 5 year old without being criticized. What a tough life.

So he can't just be a man and say, "I knocked the glove away to try and spark a lifeless team"? Come on man. The guy is making himself look exactly how most non-Penguins fans feel about him anyway. He's proving everyone outside of western PA right, and it's awesome.

and all of these non-Penguins fans you speak of would be jumping for joy if he was traded to their team tomorrow. he's the player that you hate if he's not on your team, but you love him if he is. every sport has those guys. it's cool that everyone feels justified in their hate now that he's made an ass of himself on national tv. it comes with the territory of being a superstar.
