Booking Concert (coming from Canada) - chances?
Hey guys,
I just booked tickets to the West Palm beach shows at the end of July. I'm about to book hotels and flights now too. We're coming from Canada and I think that things should be reopened to non essential travel by that time (about 70% confidence level...?). My wife and I are scheduled to get our first vaccination in a few weeks so we'll have the first one for sure (probably not the second though). Anyone else doing this and/or any opinions on how risky everyone thinks this is? Any opinions here? Thanks. |

I thought people could still fly back and forth, and it was just the land border crossings that were closed?

I am in the same boat. Booked flight from Canada to Fla for WPB shows with AC. Can cancel flight for AC credit. Already got my first shot. Expect to have second shot a month or so prior to the shows. I don’t presently share your 70% confidence. I am more like 25% possibility, but that hope is helping me get through all this. COVID challenges and variants are constantly changing. Who knows what it will be like 3 months from now, especially with added issue of cross border travel. In any event I hope we both make it to the WPB shows this year!

Vaccines are nowhere near as readily available as they presently are in USA. Canadian government policy is to defer 2nd shot for “aboot” 4 months after the first which is beyond vaccine manufacturers present recommendations :confused |

My fingers are crossed!! Planning on the gorge and Denver (driving to both)!! Border should be open by September......I hope!
While the vaccine roll out has been slow (still waiting for my first shot). It should ramp up soon as it sounds like supply is going to increase steadily in Canada very soon. |

I’m coming from Toronto to the Gorge shows. Hoping the border crap is done by then but can probably work around it.
I will have my second vaccine July 29, so I’m not concerned about that. |

Nice - we're in Halifax. I'm probably being overly optimistic, but I'm hoping we can make West Palm beach work by the end of July. If not, I think August/September for sure hopefully! |

Yup, another Torontonian booked for the Gorge. I got my first AZ shot Friday, with my second dose scheduled for mid-August (personally, I think we'll be flooded with AZ by then and it'll be way sooner).
Fingers crossed it works out. From my point of view, this is entirely out of my control, so I won't worry about it until I need to sell my tix/camping. Border will for sure be open by then. The one thing that concerns me is whether venues will require proof of vaccination, and not want to accept out of country (or even out of state) proof. We all remember travelling somewhere and trying to get into a bar with a perfectly valid id, and the minimum wage bouncer was like "this looks fake." |

Glad to see some positivity around here!! Most of my friends think there is no chance the border is open by Labour Day. Or else they think it will be open but a 14 day quarantine will be required upon coming back. My gut says it will be open and we will be good to go for LDW!!

I would be surprised.

The issue will be with coming back. Just make sure you have a strong contingency plan in place. I have tickets for the Vancouver show and going to be looking to sell them probably. Even fully vaccinated I’m not sure I’ll feel ready to go to an indoor concert. We’ll see I guess.

Same here, travelling from Toronto area. I picked up tickets for CT on Nov 9&10. I figure all should be relatively back to normal by then and we should be fully vaccinated. It's about a 7 hour drive but totally worth it for the last two shows of the tour. Looks like a great venue to. That and only 1/2 hour from Boston so me and the wife are going to make a trip of it.
