So what's everyone favorite first round moment? Doesn't have to be your team, probably more interesting to see the ones that don't include your team.

I've got two that come to mind right now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXWQUUsSpzI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYRWxRXROag

This one is crappy quality but it's got both Cujo's save and the winning goal in one clip.

Good question! I have too many favorites from the Pens not to list a couple:

Vigneult is such a tool for calling out the Islanders for this weekend. Crying to the media about it. A-hole. Seems to me Lundy didn't play Saturday and Zucc sat out for seemingly no reason. Their scrubs were the leading ice time getters for the game vs the wings. Who is he to talk? Isles tried hard to win Saturday's game. Sunday's islanders game was the make up game and meant nothing. Team is so banged up to begin so I can hardly blame Capuano for resting guys.

This post proves that Vigneult is amazing. The fact that you are about to play the Panthers in the first round of the playoffs and you are worried about what the Rangers head coach said just hammers home the fact that his comments worked. He did a little bit of ball busting to rattle the Icelanders and their fans and it seemingly worked.

Welcome to the NHL, now worry about winning a playoff series for the first time in over two decades. Pressure is on, no excuses if you lose to an inexperienced Panthers team. You got the match-up that you clearly wanted, so go do something with it.

Well, early in fandom, the Islanders were involved in 2 of the greatest nhl playoff games ever, let alone first round moments.

You have the Easter Epic with LaFontaine's goal in the 4OT of the Patrick division semifinals.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...istory/page/11

And then, as I've mentioned before on here, my first ever NHL game was the Ken Morrow OT goal in the 5th and deciding game in the 84 playoffs to eliminate the Rags.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...istory/page/12

It's a long clip but it gives you the idea how exciting an OT it was. This series was the beginning of the "drive for five".

Who is worried about him. I just wanted to point out what an idiot he is. Playoffs are days away. Slow news day.

Yeah, you're right. Luongo, jagr, jokinen, hudler, Campbell are all so inexperienced.

I believe I said last after completing the season sweep of your team that I fine with getting the Penguins.

Likely before most of us were even alive but this may be the most quintessential goal in NHL history. OT of a clinch game Orr feeds Sanderson behind the net who finds Orr streaking across the crease and nets it in to win the Cup!

Yup, except that idiot has won 12 playoff series since becoming a coach in 1997-98. Remind me again how many the Icelanders have won in that time?

Also, the majority of the Panthers team is very young. The guys you named were also not in the playoffs last year and none of them have won a cup in the last five years.

All I am saying is the last thing the NYI need is to be thinking about the Rangers in anyway. This is your best chance at winning a playoff series in forever since both the Icelanders and Cats have been unable to do so in the modern era of hockey.

Personally, I would love for both our teams to meet in the ECF.

I love this question...but I'll change it up and go with recent memories.

My all-time #1 just happens to be "recent", and that's what I consider to be the best first round game in the salary cap era -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RivdXXzir0
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNC8-PTTee0

Everything about that game was just perfect. Crowd was absolute diehards, no "bandwagoners" yet. It was as loud as the UC has possibly ever been. A group of people that have been waiting through decades upon decades of (not so) arguably the worst owner in the history of pro sports. I remember sitting in the UC prior to game 1 of that series and I've never felt a tension like that before. The lights dimmed at the UC and before the intro videos started, with all the lights off, the TVs just displayed "Welcome playoffs...we've been waiting for you." Place blew the roof. Insane moment, will never experience something like it again.

Hawks down 3-0 in the series, classic Dave Bolland postseason magic. Dave Bolland returned for game 4, and had 2 goals and 4 assists in the next 3 games to help bring the Hawks back to 3-3. I was at this game, too, and managed to lose a shoe (singular) and hat celebrating the Ben Smith winner. What often gets forgotten is this Michael Frolik penalty shot that tied the game in the first place : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs_-T-jwfJY where he literally pulled Corey Scheider's groin the deke was so dirty. Roberto Luongo, who had a standing history with Chicago for choking in the playoffs, gets put into the game. The UC erupted into "LOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU" chants the next 17 minutes (you can hear it start around 1:55 of that video). Magic game. So much fun.

Non-Blackhawk moments -

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnhIv4D1U98

I mean, if game 5 Hawks/Preds isn't the best first round playoff game of the last decade-ish, than this absolutely is. What an insane comeback. Some of the reaction videos are still just priceless. Classic Toronto.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orSXPiDlxfA

This series was just fucking amazing. Absolute bloodbath, old time hockey. Two teams that fucking hated each other, how else could it be solved than game 7 overtime?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfT2jlkqtLI

As most of you know here, I have a soft spot for non-traditional hockey markets succeeding. I love people being able to have those moments that just transcend any other sport. I also love guys that would block a shot with their face, playoff overtime winners at home, etc. This was the full package. What a block by RJ, great moment for Columbus...I guarantee you there were kids that walked out of that stadium as life-long hockey fans because of how special that moment was.

https://youtu.be/DoR08P1Fv8c?t=1m11s

As much as I want to say "fuck the Blues", this was just such a classic call by John Kelly. "Goodbye, good night, game over!" Everything about that moment is what makes the NHL playoffs so great. Just totally unsuspecting play, and all the sudden it's total mayhem.

I suggest we drop this argument over 3 videos. I am willing to forget it and admit I said some things I wish I didn't. However, if you want to keep going leave me out of it: report my posts to an admin, forget this happened and move foreword so we can have civil discourse or voice any personal complaints to me via PM so we can leave this nonsense out of the thread.

The game 7 Boston/Toronto still has my jaw on the floor to this day.

The Blues OT goal was also one. I was switching back and forth between games that night and saw the penalty and thought this is over. Went back to one game and then back to this one just as Steen was scoring.

I'll go with my best Wings first round moments and they both include Franzen.

Wings were a tentative bunch in 2007 and I was nervous as they had lost in the first round in 03 and 06 and the 2nd round in 04 and it was a tough series and game 6 was Sunday night after they played game 5 Saturday afternoon and this game was amazing.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3mOLvCSB-g

Just after the 2 minute mark of the video you see Moss miss an open net and then The Mule wins it in the 2nd ot.

The other one was another scary moment for the Wings in 2008. Dominating game 5 (after losing games 3 and 4 in Nashville) I was nervous and they lead 1-0 the whole game until the last minute when the Preds tie it and I thought oh shit....then the Mule wins it and saves the season. including that one they went on a 9 game winning streak in the playoffs...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jpBSxU2Onao

Looking forward to tonight.
