Re: The NHL Thread
Sounds like no Crosby or Letang so easy for the Flyers today. The way Wings have started this one they don't seem to want it too badly. A NYR team with key guys out and doesn't really need the points is outplaying them. Pathetic. Could be Flyers and Bruins in.

Flyers assured nothing. Even with those guys out. See Thursday's effort versus Leafs as example.

Re: The NHL Thread
Well Wings woke at early in the second but holy crap Sens did too. 4-1 Sens. Holy shit.

Re: The NHL Thread
Eric Staal to locker room with what looked like a neck injury, teammate ran into him. Scary when I think of Erik Cole getting hurt on less last year.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
So much holding going on in this game both ways. Wow, refs.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Talk about a rookie fucking move by Blashill. Down 1 so pull the goalie with 2:40 left and they didn't have solid possession. I mean WTF?!? What a fucking idiot. Bruins are bigger choke artists is the only fucking reason they are in.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
lol Bruins....
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Wow, Wings sneak in...not sure who I want in Flyers or Bruins.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Yeah, I was shocked to see the Wings wake up like that myself. Bruins took a dump today but Phillie cannot solve the Pens so far and it will not be any easier going to visit the Islanders tomorrow.

Re: The NHL Thread
Happy to see the streak continue. Edmonton working on matching it for years not in the playoffs.

Can't believe the Flyers got a player like Simmonds for Mike Richards, someone who had no fucking guts his last season there.

When your franchise goalie bangs out of the final game of the season because he is sick, you don't deserve it Or when a game comes down to a shootout and you keep your top goal scorer on the bench in favor of a defenseman, you don't deserve to be in the playoffs. The bright spot with missing the playoffs is they hopefully realize their system sucks. |

|
Re: The NHL Thread
Sucks to lose a game like that when you take a 3-0 lead into the second period only to lose it 5-4 in OT but it was great to see Crawford back in net. Chicago sort of shot themselves in the foot by giving both Toews and Hjalmarsson the nigh off while still not having Shaw, Hossa or Anisimov back also with Keith having one more game remaining on his suspension. Game didn't really mean shit anyhow though, they were not catching Dallas or St Louis. Real season starts this week and hopefully we everyone is healthy for game one against St. Louis.
Pretty sure Kane locked up both the Art Ross and the Hart with 2 goals and an assist and Panarin locked up the Calder with 2 goals and an assist. |

Shame Datsyuk is in a position to harm the Wings financially if he leaves the league and returns to Russia, would be quite a cap hit for them - to the tune of 7.5 million bucks.
Amazing that the Ducks are in a position to win the Pacific if they beat the Islanders today. |

Its not shocking at all. This Bruins team constantly folds, they have no defense. Then when you factor in the goalie situation. Yeah....pretty much what was expected to happen. |

They lost the same way this season that they did last season. The only thing I'm shocked about is Tuukka not playing.

Re: The NHL Thread
Bruins fans are fantastic. Also love how people aren't shocked when you lose 6-1. No one should expect a 6-1 loss with the playoffs on the line. If I were a Bruin fan I would want Julien gone
|
Re: The NHL Thread
No Holtby, Ovie, Backstrom, Orpik, Carlson for the caps tonight.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
We're talking about a Boston team who led their division as recently as within the last month or so. To drop that fast and finish with a showing like that, well I guess it's to be expected per their own fanbase.

Claude is a really good coach. I'm not sure they find better if they let him go. The Bruins were not a good team this year. Like I said they had no defense. I'm not shocked at all they lost like they did without tuukka in net. I can't believe people actually are honestly. |

Re: The NHL Thread

Doesn't that kind of show the team they were? Why are you surprised a team that played that awfully down the stretch got smoked with an AHL goalie in net? Makes no sense. They just were not good this year. Of course they played well at times. Mostly when Marchand was playing out of his mind but that wasn't going to keep happening. |

Re: The NHL Thread

Hell all the first round matchups are going to be battles though I expect Dallas to beat down Minnesota and the Penguins to beat the Rangers fairly easily. The rest of the series's I would not care to wager on at all. I would probably favor the Islanders over the Panthers, Detroit could beat a banged up TB, Phillie could upset Washington, LA probably beats the snot out of Nashville, the Ducks and the Sharks is going to be a tough series and the Hawks Blues series is going to be an absolute grind, especially with Keith not being on the ice in St. Louis for game one. Regardless of the outcome this playoff season is going to be very exciting to watch. |

Hooray for regular season success! I guess I just look at differently. This Bruins team was not good. Most fans will say the same thing. Putting together 93 points is not that impressive to me. There was no way they were making any noise in the playoffs. Would have been embarrassed by the caps. The team had huge holes particularly on defense which is such an important part of the team. Look at their defense on paper. It's straight up awful after their top 2. Not sure what magic Claude is supposed to work with that junk. He isn't the one that ruined this team. |

Re: The NHL Thread
Honestly, I think the Bruins overachieved, if anything.
There has been some horrible mismanagement of talent in Boston. Trading Dougie Hamilton and Tyler Seguin were awful moves. While I understand the Seguin thing a little, it's just clearly not enough: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JRyIgatcTAs I think the B's will be fine, but to say that this roster as it's currently constructed is a playoff roster is just wrong. I love Krejci, Bergeron, and Eriksson, but there's just not enough there. |
Re: The NHL Thread
They'll be fine when they sign Jimmy Vesey.

I am as ready as anyone for the playoffs, but I learned this morning that Matt Murray may not be able to go due to the head injury he sustained on Saturday. :lorraine You might get a break, Rags fans! There's a reason Zatkoff was bumped to the No. 3 goalie. |
Re: The NHL Thread
Bruins fans were nowhere to be seen the last few months but show up after their team gets throttled and knocked out of the playoffs and come in here and chirp? OK.
This is could be a crazy playoff in the East. Flyers and playing well so scary for the Caps who historically choke. Rangers are banged up but so are the Pens, but Pens are playing very well, so who knows what happens there. Wings and Lightning has the potential to be good if the Wings that played the Flyers and the last 2 periods of the Rangers game show up and with the injuries that TBL has. I already have the beard going, cause I can't shave too well with a 2nd degree burn on my dominant hand, so here we go.... Much easier to get excited about all the playoff series, when your team actually did make it in, whether I think they'll do well or not. |
Re: The NHL Thread
Quote:
Yeah, the East should be pretty nuts. The Caps SHOULD overpower the Flyers over a 7-game series, but the Flyers have been scary good lately, and the Caps are, well, the Caps. The Cats should beat the Islanders with how banged up the Isles are, which means the Isles could pull off a stunning upset. The Wings and Lightning series seems to be a toss-up because of the Lightning injuries and how sporadically the Wings have been playing. If the Pens can manage to put up 4-6 a game like they have been, it might not matter who's in net. As to the bold, what the hell did you do? |
