All of this Hawks stuff is completely ridiculous. There is no way they're missing the playoffs this year.

56 games into the season and they are 10 points out of a WC slot. I know it is easy t o say they will make a run and end up in the playoffs because of the amount of inter-divisional games left but the way they are playing is not encouraging. Time to start that push, tonight - in Vegas. :lol

Not sure if serious, but 10 points out of a Wild Card slot with less than 30 games remaining, and a handful of teams in front of them jockeying for position? I mean, the Avs are only two points out and I'm pretty skeptical about their chances. The West's Wild Card race might be crazy enough that they don't get in.

This, the Central is a bear this year - again. To get in Chicago needs to get Crow back and playing at his peak as soon as possible. Kane needs to shoot more - that 500th assist will come soon enough. Toews needs to start getting on the scoresheet more. The power play has made strides recently but they need to convert much better. Q needs to stop changing up his lines every time they hit a bump in the road. No doubt there is plenty of talent on O so I do not the the D should be pinching every single time and often giving up odd man rushes- the goals will come, hopefully. D needs to tighten up but the main thing is they have to start scoring more (among other smaller issues) to get on any sort of run.

The Blackhawks currently have a 2% chance to make the playoffs.

It ain't happening.

To the others, they are young, guys like Oesterle, Rutta, DuClair, Forsling and Schmaltz and have plenty of energy and upside. I could go either way with Anisimov but outside of perhaps Bouma he has the best net front presence on the team.

Saad is the best candidate to move and get solid young talent. He has a lot of upside (not that much of it is showing this season), he is still young and has a notified NTC (there are ten teams he can be traded to) and he has 3 years remaining on his contract of 6mm a year. I think the Hawks could get probably an NHL ready guy, a couple top tier prospects and some draft picks in return.

I agree completely on Crawford hiding some flaws but the issue really boils down to the fact that this team is just not scoring goals for whomever is in net. Hopefully he and Forsling can come back at full steam and at least help the Hawks make at least a push for that last WC slot.

Yeah, the cap has us backed into a corner, he has navigated it great for a long time but this season the structural integrity is catching up and the results are bad.

Yeah, Keith has made a few boneheaded plays this season (what player has not?) but he is still the most solid defender on the team.

Been a frustrating season so far and being in probably the best division in hockey (all due respect to the Metro) is not helping one bit. Now essentially they need to almost win out for the rest of the year and get some help from other teams just to make the playoffs and frankly it sucks. I am still a die hard fan who watches every game and will continue to do so but somewhere inside of me a small alarm is going off about heir window of opportunity, it is like the 2002 Yankees, you knew you had some great players but getting that extra mile to actually win a championship would involve some major moves and additions - sure the Yankees won again in 2009 but that involved some rebuilding and a ton of spending on FA's in a league where the cap was far higher than the NHL - plus if you exceeded it you got a slap on the wrist so to speak in the form of a fine the team was happy to pay.

No way in hell do you trade Saad. It's the ultimate sell-low candidate. That Panarin deal looks so much worse if you deal him for pennies on the dollar right now. Also, no way in HELL does he return as much as you just said. I think you have to give him a year to bounce back. Outside some miracle of Seabrook waiving his NMC, I just don't see much happening this deadline.

As for the Oesterle, Rutta, DuClair, Forsling and Schmaltz group with "tons of energy and upside". I gotta disagree outside Schmaltz.

Duclair has been fine. That's the word I would use. He's fine. He's basically Viktor Stalberg. Oesterle has shown flashes of being a decent defender, Rutta as well, but they also deserved their fair share of healthy scratches/benchings. Again, they're fine. They aren't even a Nick Leddy level defender. Maybe Oesterle puts it all together and develops into a nice bottom pair defensemen, but for now he's barely that.

This sub knows how much I love Duncan Keith, so it should carry some weight when I say Keith has been bad this year. Because he has. Yes, he's the best defensemen on the Hawks, but that's like saying he's the smartest person on the short bus. It's not much of a prize. He's been making mental mistake after mental mistake that your top defensemen just can't make.

If I had to assess playing level, I'd say the Hawks this year have had one top-4 defenseman (Keith), one "kid" that really shows the ability to be top-4 but isn't there yet (Murphy) and then a bunch of bottom pairing at best defensemen. If Oesterle for some reason has value to another team, ship him out. Jokiharju hopefully is ready to play next year, but he's still probably at least 2-3 seasons from really being an option. Hawks need Keith to return to form and get another top 4 defensemen. One of the things Crawford's injury exposed was just how awful the defensemen have been for Chicago.

Rumor has it the Hossa to Arizona trade (that I predicted, I'd like to point out) was all set to be made but got held up by Hawks management for some unknown reason. I'm guessing that happens this offseason. I think Q and Bowman get one more year to right this ship, but I could see either of them being fired as well. This season is a mess.

Looks like Dion Phaneuf coming to Kings. He was pulled mid game, Kings still currently playing their game with no player pulled. Interesting..

Phaneuf and Thompson for Gaborik and Shore. Sens retain 25% of Phaneuf salary.

Sniff sniff bye Gaborik, I’ll miss your beautiful face.

And just like that, Duclair is a healthy scratch for the Hawks tonight.

UNTOUCHABLE.

Flyers lose in shootout! Never saw that before. Blew that game and two points away.

Don’t care that they won a shootout on Saturday. Everyone beats the Coyotes.

Fucking Wings, learn how to lose. Jimmy Howard maybe playing good for an audition for the Isles, since that's the only team who could use a goalie. They were being outshot 20-7 and were up 2-0.

Watching team USA now. 2-1 in the third late.

Tied game 2-2. USA blew a two goal lead.

Edit: USA does not look very good. Doubt they do anything without the NHL players.

LollerUSA. Hockey is over before it started. 2-3 loss in OT to Slovenia. Pathetic.

Yeah, I had hopes that this might be interesting, but you call it exactly how it is, these guys suck. :/

At least our women's team is pretty good.

:lol @ USA losing to Slovenia.

Granted, the USA team has only been together for a month. Solvenia's national team has been together for months, if not years.
