Fun Fact: There is a bar right beside the ACC in Toronto that generates more annual revenue than the Arizona Coyotes.

It's agreed that it's a matter of when, not if they reach that 50mil "out" threshold, right? How long until that happens? 2-3 years? Basically trying to determine when we'll have to talk about the 'yotes again.

Among the RFAs the Flyers extended offers to are Lauridsen and Gustafsson, who both could very well be on the Flyers roster a lot this year, especially if Coburn or Meszaros are traded.

They still have to be there 5 years regardless. They lost close to $50mil in 08-09 and I think around 20-30 each year since 09 and one of those years they went to round 3. So even if a little higher attendance lowers the average a little bit I can't it being lower than $10mil a year they are losing which they would need to do.

This gives Seattle time to get an NBA team and an arena though. Announce expansion in 2-3 years. Two teams would have to move West (since they are expanding to QC and Markham) and one report actually had FLA and Tampa moving into Division B as it's being called right now. If not then it's two of Detroit, Columbus and the new TO team going West. Then they announce Phoenix has failed, no shit, and they'll move to the fancy new arena in Seattle.

Maybe this is all part of Vinny's plan... Play for Philly for a couple years, get bought out, return to TB to finish his career. Plus, how awesome would it be to be getting buyout checks from TWO different teams for the next decade and a half?!

I like that there is a 2 day period of talking before contracts can be signed officially. That should make Friday a little more entertaining. Not waiting around for 3 days like we did last year for Suter and Parise.

Mid-July is what they hoped. Phoenix was a big hang up and Olympics too. That seems to be all but set too. So a few weeks. But hey those preseason ones are out and...yeah I don't give a shit whatsoever about that.

So this..

‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun:
Bruins and Bergeron are close but still not done. Once it is, I'd expect the deal to be 8 yrs and between $52 M and $54 M.

and this..

@FriedgeHNIC: Hearing that Rask extension -- although not done yet -- will be in the 8 year/$56M range.

That's a lot of money.

the cap hit is fine. but four more years of kunitz and dupuis on sids line is what makes me go eh. we know what is going to happen, they'll light it up in the regular season, then in the playoffs crosby will be double or triple teamed. dupuis can't create on his own, so that line will be shut down.

I agree. I don't think he leaves. Although I'm sure playing with Chara might tempt him. However once they sign Rask to $7mil a year the will be right up against the cap so unless he's gonna sign for WAY cheap, I just don't see it happening.

Also, I read that while Clarkson wants 6 million to sign back in Jersey, he is willing to take a home grown discount to sign with the Leafs. He if wants 6 million he knows where he can go. If he's willing to sign around the 4 million mark then we may have something to work with. Here is hoping is will sign around 4 million.

I don't like this move on the part of the stars. Not at all

Seems the prospects the Bruins got are a pretty good haul. Added a ton of organizational depth.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Eriksson is one of the most underrated players in the game. Huge pickup for the bruins.

Isn't morrow supposed to be amazing?

Seems to be the most highly touted prospect of the 3. Top 4 potential. Tons of young D-men in the organization right now.

HallowBillies7 07-04-2013 04:42 PM

Chiarelli said he wasn't going to give away Seguin and wanted a lot in return, looks like he got it.

Philadelphia Flyers Nation
Claude Giroux and the ‎#Flyers are close to an 8 year $66 million extension and making a big final push for Ray Emery (Frank Seravalli).

They're also looking at Halak via trade route. And Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal thinks Coburn will be an Oiler.

Grabovski bought out by the Leafs.

That's a lot of salary coming off the cap hit. He is a very serviceable second line center. Not happy to see him go. Very happy to see that cap hit go.

I hope they have a move in mind that ISN'T giving Bozak the 40 million dollar contract he wants. That shit is cray cray/

Not a bad deal if he can get to where he is still capable of getting.

omcg resigned for 8 years, 8.275 mil.

Why do the Flyers always have to make moves when I'm not around the computer. I just got the story up and missed out on an hour's worth of views.

My only thought when I see the Flyers continue to pretend there isn't a salary cap:

Well at least they got Adam Hall back, so that's something. Right?

Other occurrences for those who have been too busy drinking to check the twitterz:

Grabovski bought out (and had some colorful things to say about Carlyle).

Shawn Horcoff traded to DAL for Philip Larsen.

Keith Ballard signs with MIN after buyout from VAN.

Zanon bought out in COL. Sad it never worked out, but.... See ya!

Don't mind the Horcoff trade as it was time for him to go. No big loss imo.

What I really enjoyed about yesterday is Grabbo going off about being bought out:

This time past year Kypreos said Suter chose the Wings so take this with a huge grain of salt. He says it appears early today that Wings might be front runner for Alfie. I still can't see him leaving the capital.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

People calling up sports radio today bringing lulz. Acting like they traded seguin and peverley for one guy and they didn't also get prospects and free up 13 mill.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

Ray Emery reportedly all but official in signing with the Flyers.
