Bruins Sabres tonight. Should be interesting to see if anyone has the balls to get Lucic to drop em. He said he's expecting to. With McCormick likely out I'd assume Gaustad would have to be the guy.

We don't have many fighters. Gaustad, Tropp, Weber and Regher to an extent. Kaleta somewhat, but he never fights bigger fighters...

I really don't expect much to happen tonight in terms of payback. We won't run Thomas, maybe a fight... this isn't a physical team so I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for something.

If Seabrook is still out, I foresee a lot of goals, probably for both teams. Good to see Frolik probably back in the lineup.

A win tonight against a very good opponent would be huge.

Thanks for the update :thumbsup

The roster is pretty crowded so I don't see him playing with the Hawks barring too many injuries.

Unfortunately the Hawks' woes continue tonight. And really, they probably played one of their better games of the year, but the Sharks' caught a pretty lucky bounce on their only goal and that's the game. But if they play like that all the time they are going to come away with the win more often than not. Still, getting dominated for the first 7 minutes of the 3rd period down 1-0 was pretty disconcerting. They get down and then play their worst stretch of the entire game. Ugh.

DMBCubs25 11-24-2011 12:40 AM

Re: NHL 2011/2012 Thread

Pirri and Smith are not the answer for this team. I'm sorry but Frolik and Bickell have no business being on this roster. Hawks could really use another top 6 forward and it's going to have to come via trade because what they are throwing out there right now is not cutting it. My wish list come trade deadline is a physical stay at home D and a 2nd to 3rd line legit center so 88 can move back to wing.

Sorry, but Frolik has been a quality player for this team. He is a third liner and does his job well. His shot is very soft but he's very solid defensively and gives us some quality time on the PK. Plus, he is always one of the hardest working players on the team in every game, it seems. I'm not going to complain about a 3rd liner who plays quality defense and works hard just because he's not scoring a lot.

He's not very good on face-offs. As solid as Carcillo has been on the 2nd line, wouldn't you rather have a legitimate 2nd line center who can win faceoffs to center for Sharp and Kane or Sharp and Hossa? I totally agree that Kane's ability to create space and great chances for his wingers is outstanding, but at a certain point you'd like to have more guys who can win faceoffs.

http://wild.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=62258

from the article:
Due to personal reasons, Niklas Backstrom, who was the scheduled starter tonight, will not be at the game tonight. That means Josh Harding will be the starter, but here’s where it gets interesting.

Houston Aeros goaltender Matt Hackett has been recalled and is on a flight to the Twin Cities right now. He’s not expected to touch down on the biggest travel day of the year until about 6:30. That means the likelihood that he’s here for warmups is very small and he may even miss part of the first period.

The Wild has reacted by signing Paul Deutsch, who runs a screen printing and embroidery store in Richfield, as the emergency goaltender. As per League rules, the Wild was forbidden from signing a goalie with professional experience, so Deutsch signed his ATO today.

Yeah. I mean, it's kinda sad how bad they can be. Getting the puck out of the zone efficiently has been a huge problem. They start running around, passing the puck to the opposing team, taking long shifts, and one of the turnovers ends up in the back of the net. I mean, they let 5 goals in today, but the problem is that you can maybe put 1 of them on Crawford, and on a few he just had no chance.

I believe these players can do it. Just just have to want to do it. It's up to them now.

They can absolutely do it, if - like you said - they want to. There are few teams with as much natural talent as the Capitals - particularly from Ovechkin, Semin, and Backstrom. They've just shown time and time again that they prefer to wallow in mediocrity instead of deciding to take it to the next level. They can do it, they just won't. Hopefully Hunter will be as hard ass of a coach as he was as a player. It's what the team needs.

Canes fired Maurice.

I saw Steve Yzerman go from a 100+ point scorer to one of the best two way players in the game. Also saw Fedorov sacrifice to get it done. Bowman made them believe in it.

Also with Maurice getting fired not much of a surprise. They were really struggling. How many guys have gotten fired. Then hired back a few years later and then fired again? A little odd.

Carolina is a mess right now. Staal has been awful and the Kaberle signing has been a huge bust thus far. I believe Kaberle was a healthy scratch their last game. I'm so glad the Bruins let him walk and picked up Corvo from them for a 4th rounder.

I really think Kaberle needs to go back to TO. He was good there. He's bombed everywhere since so far.

Toronto won't take him back with that contract. Liles has been very good for them so far this year so I doubt they'd have much interest in bringing him back.

I don't think so either. Just saying that's probably where he belongs.

Yea definitely. He just can't seem to get comfortable anywhere else.
