I watched the NHL Network this morning and saw both equally. Saw this article this morning trying to defend it.

Ummmm no. Slashes and a few cross checks and hits are one thing. To BLATANTLY try to separate his balls is not playoff hockey. That goes for him and for Perry.

Also Logan Couture's tweet last night:

I never liked Lucic, but that was straight up dumb and dirty. He deserves a suspension. I always liked Corey Perry, but that was also dumb and dirty. He also deserves a suspension

Gotta go to the wife's family's thing up in East Lansing, so about an hour drive. Eating is at 2 but it's never on time and then who knows if we'll leave early or what so basically I'll miss most, if not all, of it. Yeah I have my phone and will TiVo it but not the same. Happy they won game one so I can relax a little about missing it if I do.

Also, proof the NHL still has lots of work to do in terms of cleaning up the game...Lucic got $5,000, and all people can talk about is Q yelling at the refs and grabbing his nuts.

It's a 6 hour drive if you're on a horse.

It's closer to 4. It's really not bad. I know a couple buddies that almost did it, and I think our resident Corsi fan in this thread did it today too.

Round trip gasbuddy says it's about $70 with a Honda Accord. Definitely worth it if you can go with a couple buddies.

I would have flown down there if I didn't already have commitments this weekend.

Re: The NHL 2013-14 Thread

We're effectively making Toews and Kane worthless out there babysitting two separate lines. Neither the Toews or Kane line has been effective yet this series. The only time they have been is when they've been on the ice together due to shift changes (i.e. Toews's outlet pass to Kane for the breakaway). Hossa and Sharp also are being dragged down by a center that can't keep up with playoff hockey anymore.

It's time to switch it up. This is going to be a QUICK series if we don't let our stars be stars.

The blender went into full effect there for the second half of the 2nd period.

Smith was centering Hossa/Sharp. Kane was double shifting between three different lines (such as Bollig and Kruger, then being with Toews and Bickell). Saad even was centering a line there for one shift.

I don't know when Handzus's last 5-on-5 shift was.

Not really. They've still got two games at United Center, a split would be great for the Hawks but they don't NEED it

Biggest issue is having the lead TWICE inside two minutes and losing twice in overtime. That would be incredibly deflating. Throw that on top of losing their second best defenseman, one who is insanely important at playing the game the Hawks want to play by his effectiveness with the stretch pass and moving the puck up and down the ice....

Obviously it doesn't end the series with a loss, but winning this would be enormous.

Hawks need to see Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp show up. Two stars that have been largely invisible through 8 periods.

Yeah pretty much what lockman said. Losing Seabrook for possibly 1+ games would be killer if they lose this in OT.

Oh I completely agree with all of that. I was just saying I didn't agree with the notion that this is a must win for Chicago. They could lose here and still survive this series

Win a faceoff with your best players on the ice, and turn the puck over immediately. Turns into a goal. Fucking christ.
