Fucking racists losers. God damn it.

Through out this pandemic catastrophe, one small positive I’ve been excited about is non traditional groups taking up camping and hiking as new hobby. This weekend I’ve talked to white, black, Hispanic, Asian, and Indian families that were camping. A lot of them were probably first time campers too which is great. I was thinking about this earlier and was so happy then I went into a bathroom to piss. Some racist fuck nugget graffitied one of the stalls with “KKK,” confederate flag, “Fuck N***ers,” “SS,” and “Dixie Gang.”

God I hope no one/minimal people saw it and felt unwelcome and hope it doesn’t discourage anyway from coming back.

Probably Biden winning, but I think Dems getting 50 seats has an even bigger chance. Dems House probably biggest likelihood, if I were a gambling man.

NEW:

Mitch McConnell aligned Super PAC "Senate Leadership Fund" gets another $25M from conservative mega-donor Sheldon Adelson and his wife, Miriam—bringing the couple's total to $50M donated to SLF this cycle.
https://t.co/oAfobSZQE5 https://t.co/LLMZcTwQXc

Other major donations came from:

Billionaire Stephen A Wynn ($4M)

Red Rock Casino owners Frank and Lorenzo Fertitia ($1.5)

William Oberndorf ($1M)

Marathon Petroleum ($500K)

https://twitter.com/RobletoFire/stat...681978882?s=19

Wow! Big numbers from conservatives too! Look! They just raised 30 million!

Different constituencies. Silent majority vs these guys.

If a conservative justice replaces her that is not horrible for Republicans

Dems go to 11 and I don't see any political fallout from doing it.

Mitch knows that. That's the problem for Republicans. It's lose lose lose for Republicans.

You might not be voting for Trump, but you still have that classic short term vision that conservatives are so well known for.

The best play for Republicans, long term, is to let the election play out. If Republicans hold both Senate and White house but lose some seats push through a more conservative justice than whatever you'd get in January. That's the best case scenario for Republicans.

I don't see a world where Dems take the Senate but don't take the white house so I'm not concerned about that nightmare scenario.

Would be really interested to see what public polling will look like on packing the court which more egregious than what Republicans have done and pretty much completely delegitimizes the court

I don’t think Moscow Mitch cares if he loses the senate if he gets a very young conservative through by Jan. He will have accomplished all he ever wanted. The federal courts are utterly packed with very young very conservative judges, most of whom care more about political ideology than judicial precedent - hell more than a couple have literally never even tried a case in court. He won.

A 6-3 Supreme Court is not a “lose” for Republicans.

Come on, man. What McConnell has done since 2016 has completely delegitimized the court. The only way to legitimize it again is to make it reflect the will of the majority of Americans, and that's what expanding it will do.

Bird's eye view: With the Democrats winning the popular vote every election since 2000 (and the only one they loss was by less than 2.5%), but with the GOP keep getting to appoint most of the SCOTUS, why should Democrats care about delegitimizing the court?

It was already delegitimized when McConnell refused to vote on a sitting president's nomination, then reneged on the very precedent he set four years later. Actions have consequences.

Oh yeah court packing is the only thing to make the court legitimate again. Totally makes sense.

Every time you use this point, you're ignoring the fact that Mitch has already done it. He held up appointments under Obama so he could save them for Trump, then he packed the courts. You can't keep saying Dems are doing it when Mitch had already done it. You see that logic problem, right?

If the conservative block on SCOTUS is concerned about court packing, maybe 2 or 3 will resign if Biden wins to stop the expansion?

Increasing the number of seats in no way delegitimizes the court.

It is if they lose the Senate, Presidency, governorships, and state houses, and the suburbs for a generation in order to accomplish it.

Like others have said, you aren't thinking long term at all. You're thinking about the sugar rush that would come with a 6-3 split that would force Roberts and Gorsuch into more swing roles, still result in Roe v Was being upheld, and likely end up with a return to a 5-4 split when 72 year old Thomas retires.

What's the biggest precedent decision a 6-3 SCOTUS makes that a 5-4 conservative court doesn't? Overturn ACA? Block a public option? That would only make the Republican's problems worse.

Political fall out. Voters understand why you go to 11.

Also, if they move forward with the vote I think Dems take the gloves off. Expand the district and appeals court to make up for the 50 seats mcconnell blocked Obama from appointing.
