Re: The NHL Thread
Chris Hansen (not that one) sounds like he is open to the idea of an NHL team coming to his arena in Seattle before an NBA team. Not at all surprised that with the talk of one in the suburbs, he didn't want to lose out on getting his arena.

But like you're saying, his game is still on in other areas. He's arguably been their best defensive forward. He's making great plays in his own end. Unfortunately, that's not all he gets paid to do! |
Re: The NHL Thread
I just got back from the supermarket and I saw Rick Nash on a milk carton.
Finish them off Caps. And then it's Let's Go Lightning!!!! :D |
Re: The NHL Thread
Ovechkin, Green, and Laich, among others are well aware of the Caps playoffs history. Guys like Orpick and Brouwer have been there before and know what it takes.
I don't expect New York to go quietly but I also don't expect the Capitals to get off track. |

BUT yeah ratings would blow I think. Maybe I'd be wrong but across the US no one would care and in those particular markets, there isn't enough interest to off-set it. |

Amazing how quickly the conversation can change in a series though. Remember a little over a week ago when everyone was talking about Cary Price. Have not heard his name mentioned since this series started.

Re: The NHL Thread
I can actually watch tonight's game. Hopefully the Rangers avoid being knocked out on home ice. That said, unless something drastic changes tonight, the Caps should be waiting for the Lightning in the Conference finals.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Well Wild probably deserved a bit more out of that series. Looks like no more Rozy though you hate to see it end like that. Could be the end of his career you would think if it's as serious as it looked.
Looks like in all likelihood Hawks v Ducks. I am kinda glad the Ducks have home ice in the first couple of games as the Hawks are due for a bunch of days off and I think it's advantageous for them to kick the rust off on the road. Rest will be huge for the top 4 dmen. |

In other news, as a DC sports fan, it is my obligation to be nervous about tonight. I'm cautiously optimistic that this team won't lose 3 in a row, but the Rangers still have a chance in this thing if the Caps PK turns back into a pumpkin at some point. |
Re: The NHL Thread

And I'm with you. Nervous as hell. My heart wants to believe this version of the Caps won't lose 3 in a row but I won't believe it until I see it. |

Personally, I said Caps in 5 after watching game 1 and I am sticking to that. I hope to god I am wrong because my last final is today at noon and I can finally start watching hockey again. I would hate for my team to only last 1 night in my freedom haha. At the end of the day, unless NY has some major changes tonight and can find a way to score they are done. The only way I would be worried as a Caps fan would be if Holtby either got hurt or gave up 4-5 goals suddenly tonight. Really, just got hurt to be honest. I don't think giving up a bunch of goals would even worry me for one game right now either. Hank got smoked in game 5 against the Habs last year for example. Prediction: 3-2 Caps tonight on a late 3rd period goal. Rangers fans cheer the team for their efforts. I book a tee time for Sunday morning. |

Hasn't ruled out Detroit according to McKenzie but my guess is he's gone. I understand wanting to see what other teams have to offer before making decision, and can't do that by end of May if he can't talk to them. |

Still I say, like a broken record, it's the Caps. I'd hold off on booking that tee time for now. |
Re: The NHL Thread
What's an "interview" with Babcock like at this point.
Him: "What can you give me?" Teams: "Yes." Him: "You will be considered." (shamelessly stolen from twitter) |

Wings also get a 3rd rounder if anyone signs Babcock. Would be within 3 years.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Not really nervous for the Rangers tonight.
I almost, ALMOST, took 3rd base seats to the nats instead. |
Re: The NHL Thread
Also about Babs, if he leaves, please go West. Don't want to face him 4-5 times a year.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Well....the Rangers have figured out a way to win the Presidents trophy and still be considered the underdogs! Here is hoping we can find a way to not lose on home ice.

I don't think the Caps will close it out tonight. Think Rangers take it 3-2 or 4-2
|
Re: The NHL Thread
I don't really think the Caps will close it out tonight either. They might. Gonna make for a really nervous game 6 if they don't. If this series ends up going 7 the Caps will lose.

I'm officially a bad Rangers fan....I'm drunk at an outdoor bar not even watching the game because I am celebrating finals being over! Go Rangers! Lol
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Only 12 goals scored in almost 4 2/3 games in this series, and not for lack of scoring chances. Gonna be yet another one-goal game and I swear I'm going to have a heart attack before it's over. Thanks Obama.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
I'm not the resident expert on hockey rules, but I feel like that should have been a goal.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Goals like that are disallowed a lot. Whatever. Great effort here from both teams. Can't say enough about those goalies. It's special.

Caps scored. Disallowed for incidental contact. I'm not upset about it. Usually that play is disallowed.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
Roenick and the experts think they got the call right, that's fair enough for me.

Re: The NHL Thread
Now they are just taking goals away from the Caps

Re: The NHL Thread
That's why you go up 3-1. Damn.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
And that's the series. Congrats, Rangers fans.
|
Re: The NHL Thread
I fully expected the Caps to lose this game by 2-3 goals. The fact they should have won and lost in OT confirms they will finish in Game 6 and win the series

Rangers had some GRADE A chances in the first 2 and just couldn't capitalize. Holtby just playing out of his mind. Great game. Nothing more awesome than OT winners at home during the SC playoffs. |
