congrats on signing goalie who gives up 6 goals in biggest game of career. Even Fleury did not do that

No, Jon. He gave up two goals in 17 seconds to blow it for his team in the biggest game of his career.

Can you snag me a Pearl Jam Wrigley shirt next week, bro?

Fleury won a stanley cup.

Blow a 2-1 lead and shot at Game 7 and get an 8-year extension. I love sports...

I'm only kidding. Good work in locking up Rask, though after seeing the Ilya Bryzgalov debacle I'm very weary of signing goalies to max contracts. Good luck Boston. I don't ever wanna see a team get Ilya'd.

Luckily Tuukka is only 26 so they'll be getting the prime years for this deal. With that said this is still a ton of money and years for him. I just hope the cap keeps going up and he keeps playing at the level he did last year.

Just ignore him.

That contract is ridiculously awful, though. No goalie should be signed to a contract like that anymore.

Yeah he only had the best save pct and 3rd best goals against/game in the playoffs. Pretty terrible.

Yeah, I donno. If you're choosing Rask over extending Seguin I'd have to say that's a mistake. Always take the dynamic goal-scorer.

The thing I love about people is how they'll say "it will be a great deal for the Bruins if he keeps up his current level of play." Well no shit. Who knows how he will be in 4-5 years.

Exactly. I just think that GMs should have learned by now that long term goaltender deals are a BAD idea.

not when it mattered he didnt. Dont care about his inflated numbers vs. god awful penguins.

2.67 GA is not vary good in the cup finals. Not vary good at all. And that number is inflated by the hawks taking game 2 off

This. I love Tuukk but I was really hoping for 4-5 years max.

Yeah man, the only 5+ year goalie contract that seems to have worked out since the lockout is Brodeur at 6 years.

I generally don't like goalie cap hits in today's NHL above $5 mil either, but this Rask deal makes Quick look like a bargain.

I look forward to more opportunities of Tuuka kamikazing into many sideboards for the next eight years.

I read his agents are looking for 10/100 - league max; that would make him the highest paid player in the league.

Guy does that when he's mad or happy, he took quite the tumble this year after the comeback game 7 against the Leaves.

Isn't 8 years the max under the new CBA?

Yes, 8 years. I learned a lot about contract negations over the past 2 days. My head hurts and I wasn't even involved. Pretty interesting stuff, would make for a great reality show. But, that's a hockey fan talking and since no one likes hockey it'd be a flop.

Would be an interesting story on CSNBC or NHLN during the off season at least.

I'd love to see it. There was this documentary thing CBC did back in like 98 that showed part of it. I'll try to find it.

Here we are a week later and Damien Brunner is still unsigned. Thought he was worth more than the $2.5-3mil the Wings offered for 2-3 years.

I'm just wondering how it could POSSIBLY be that Bryzgalov doesn't have a team yet. He must still be trying to score a try-out with the All-Universe team he created in his head. My guess is his final destination ends up being Calgary or one of the Floridas. Who knows, maybe even the Islanders. What say you, Sal?

I was so tempted to video record some of what I was around the last two days, just for you guys! But alas, I know what's right from wrong.
